All Saints Episcopal Church Bayside
The Ramsay Report

Monday, December 28, 2020

We hope everyone had a wonderful and blessed Christmas and were able to attend one (or more) of the services and online fellowship gatherings that took place over the last few days.

Starting on Monday, December 21, 2021, Santa and Mrs. Byrne and elves Teddy Byrne and Diana Gilday in their red sleigh (Subaru) personally delivered gifts and Christmas activities to many of our Sunday school students, surprising them and spreading cheer in this very strange year!

On Wednesday evening, the Church School held its annual Christmas Party on Zoom, featuring a video recap of Santa's visits, games, a reading of The Grinch and an opportunity for our young people to connect.

On Christmas Eve, we celebrated the birth of Christ with our traditional 5:00 p.m. Family Service both in-person and online.  The service opened with the premiere of All Saints Episcopal Picture's Christmas Pageant: The Movie.  It is a wonderful ministry from our church school leaders and students, as well as our organist and choir director and The Crooks.   Please see the bulletin for all cast information and thanks.

At 10:30 p.m. (ish), the "choir" -- Father and Mrs. Byrne, Deacon Marjorie and Major Tom Espenshade, socially distanced and masked, led us in carol song both in-person and online.  The service opened with a virtual choir offering the processional hymn, "Oh Come All Ye Faithful," as well as "Silent Night."  You can see the bulletin here.

On Christmas Day, we hosted one service at 10 a.m. both in person and online, featuring Holy Eucharist Rite 1 as is our tradition.  Following the service, Christmas Pageant: The Movie aired online again and led into an All Saints Yule log featuring the common room fireplace and the pageant music performed by The Crooks.

On Saturday, we all rested.

Sunday, December 27, marked the First Sunday of Christmas with a service online and in-person at 10 a.m.   If you missed yesterday's service, you can just click here.  You can also view/download the bulletin here.

If your circumstances permit, please continue to keep your pledges up to date. You may do so by mail or online. There is a new and streamlined online giving system. Simply click the donate button on the website or click here.

Christmas II Sunday, January 3, 2021
10 am. Holy Eucharist, Rite II (In-person and online)

Guidelines for In-person Services
Those that plan on attending in-person Sunday services, you must pre-register by calling the church office (718-229-5631) by the Friday before. Please do not text, e-mail, or call Fr. Byrne’s mobile phone. For it to work, we have to have one centralized method of tracking attendance.  Diocesan regulations mandate a maximum of 25 people in the service.

In addition to the earlier reminder, one other thing the Bishop is asking of all of us is to be aware of the "hot zones" and if you are living in one of those orange or red zones to refrain from coming to church. To see the latest status of your location, visit this website: https://covidhotspotlookup.health.ny.gov/#/home

We are doing everything correctly here, and will remain in live/online mode as long as possible.  Thank you for caring for each other by hanging in with the restrictions.

New 21st Century Memorial/Thank Offering Giving Program

Good news!  We've reached our initial $4,000 fundraising goal.  CONGRATULATIONS!

Thank you to those who helped us get there.  No one could have imagined how important holding online worship would be in 2020.   But we have done it and one of the lessons of the great separation is that online evangelism is here to stay.   We plan to keep this fund open and active as other tech needs will certainly arise.  Any and all donations -- large and small -- are appreciated.  You can send a check or make a donation through the web site.   Please be sure to note that it is for the Tech Fund.

The Bottom of the Barrel
...is not something we want to see. As your circumstances permit, please continue to bring food for the food pantry. Food insecurity is a growing concern for many people right now.

Mother Karen (the new rector at Grace) shared with the Deanery clergy that demand at the food pantry is way up. All Saints has been a generous supplier, and hope we can continue to be.

If you missed last night's 30th installment of Major Tom's Coffee House, it is available for watching in all our usual places -- web site, Facebook, YouTube.  You can also just click here.

Show your parish pride with “Church Merch,” “Sacred Swag” or whatever you call a great collection of custom T-shirts, drink-ware, and more available at the All Saints Shop! Visit via our website. Each item you buy helps to fund our mission and ministry. Don’t miss the special Christmas section.  This week only, take 15 percent off your order!  Happy shopping!

The Ramsay Report is also looking for breaking news!  Have updates or information to share with the congregation, please email it to Stephanie.tonnesen@gmail.com.  Please put Ramsay Report News in the subject line.  Thanks!

Have a wonderful week!
