Church Plant Progress

In 2020 we began a new church plant in the urban city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, a city of population 3 million. Comunidad Vida & Gozo (Life & Joy Community) is a focused effort to reach an influential sector of the city, to this point unreached by the traditional church.  We are mentoring a few young church planters as part of our team.  Since launching virtual small groups in July, we have engaged with more than two dozen new families on a weekly basis

In February 2021, we launch virtual weekend gatherings since we do not yet have a physical venue.  The potential venues in sight need refurbishing to use -- floors, ceilings, electrical and A/C installations.  The budget for refurbishing is $30,000. The budget for sound and media equipment is $12,000 (an approved STL project).  With these funds and the funds already raised for a year’s worth of rent of the venue ($24,000) – Comunidad Vida & Gozo can start meeting on site and will continue to grow into a multiplier church plant impacting the Santo Domingo community for eternity.  THANKS to those who have given towards the rent goal!

Summer outreach turned digital due to Covid-19 restrictions, but did not limit VG's ability to reach new families through Virtual Kids Camps "Summerfest at Home".  Check out the quick video clip -- SHARE with your children's ministry!

MDA TEEN MINISTRY THRIVES

This fall we hosted "Play to Win" - our 1st Virtual Youth Convention and Youth Leader's Summits.  The digital platform allowed us to reach churches in all corners of the country, involve new ones, and see students able to "bring" along friends from school.  A high school gal from Higuey accepted her classmate's invite to watch online, becoming the start of a lifetime with Jesus as she prayed for salvation during the final Zoom session.  One youth leader wrote to say that she had been ready to quit ministry and give up in this difficult season, but during the online leader event found new motivation and strength to continue on investing in discipling students to become disciple makers.
In the DR, we continue under "emergency status" for Covid-19 protocols, curfews now from 7pm to 5am, and use of masks everywhere.  The boy's are still doing school online, with the chance to go to school campus for in person small groups once every other week.
