It’s hard to come up with words that feel adequate to describe the year that’s coming to a close.

The dual pandemics of COVID-19 and state violence have devastated our community members, inside and outside prison. But because of sustained support from passionate movement donors like you, ALC has been able to radically scale and deepen our advocacy work, advancing the struggle for liberation thru abolitionist litigation, community organizing, court watching, mutual aid, and more.

As we round out our year-end fundraising push, we want to thank all those who've donated thus far, helping us reach $26K! Financial support from those with shared values and visions of liberatory futures, allows us to defend vulnerable community members resisting carceral violence. It permits us to act fearlessly in lines of work not traditionally funded by the non-profit industrial complex.

                                THIS YEAR WE'VE USED OUR RESOURCES TO :
                            

Combat the state-sanctioned negligence of prisoner health in the wake of COVID-19, demanding immediate decarceration thru litigating and organizing.

Create the Emergency Prisoner and Family Relief Fund to raise and redistribute $20K to 180 current and former PA state prisoners and their families who've been severely impacted by the ongoing crisis.

File lawsuits on behalf of protestors and residents in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh who were viciously attacked by militarized cops with tear gas and rubber bullets, brutalized in the streets and in their own homes this summer.

Establish a Court Watch program to surveil Allegheny County judges and police, publish reports on bail-as-ransom and apartheid policing, and host transformative justice workshops developed by volunteers.

Lead the struggle to abolish death by incarceration in PA thru our landmark case, Scott V PA Board of Probation and Parole and grow the movement to end solitary confinement thru the Solidarity Not Solitary coalition.

Bring class action suits to finally end the abusive practices carried out by Allegheny County Jail officials, in which community members living with psychiatric disabilities, and pregnant women, are routinely tortured.

We are proud of the ways our teams and communities have persevered this year. We are emboldened to continue growing and sharing our model of liberation in 2021 – a model that advocates for our inherent rights to dignity, transformation, and self-determination.
