Main Story
  • Launch of the newly upgraded Food Security Portal: The FSP Team is proud to announce the official launch of the upgraded Food Security Portal! The renovated Portal includes an expanded and enhanced suite of datasets and analysis tools to better monitor and respond to food crisis risk, including the COVID-19 Price Monitor and expanded Food Price Watch. The upgraded FSP was launched at a recent IFPRI policy seminar.
News and Updates
  • FAO Food Price Index Spikes to Six-Year High: The FAO Food Price Index spiked sharply in November to hit its highest level in almost six years and the largest month-on-month increase since July 2012. The steep rise was driven by increases in commodity prices across the board.
  • COVID-19 Risk and Food Value Chains: Post-Webinar Coverage: Understanding how COVID-19 is affecting local and global food value chains is key in establishing effective policy responses to mitigate the harmful impacts of the ongoing public health crisis. A recent webinar on COVID-19 risk, co-organized by the CGIAR Research Program on Policies, Institutions, and Markets (PIM) and Food Security Portal, examined the results of several recent studies on how various food value chains are responding to COVID-19.
