MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRS

Hi friends,

To say 2020 has been an unprecedented and challenging year is an understatement. 
 
For many of us, it has profoundly tested our resilience, fortitude and dedication to fighting for positive change. It has awakened us to our need to educate ourselves on the lived experiences of our friends and colleagues of every gender, race and creed and to appreciate how much work still needs to be done. 

But it has also been a year with moments of celebration - for the dedication of our essential workers, for a victory for a better future under a Biden administration, and for the things we have achieved which we did not know we were capable of. 

This holiday season, just like the rest of 2020, is going to be a particularly difficult one for many. It takes place in the midst of a winter pandemic wave and with the collective knowledge of the work we have still to do in Georgia this January. Many DAUK WC members will be away from loved ones for the first time due to travel restrictions. But we are all still connected by our shared purpose and vision for a better future. So be kind to yourself and to others this holiday season - give back to those in need, practice gratitude, and reflect on the work we still have to do in 2021 and beyond. 

May 2021 be a healthy and prosperous year for us all.

WOMEN'S CAUCUS ELECTIONS
We are excited to announce that it is time again for our Women's Caucus Leadership elections.

If you've ever thought that you'd like to be more involved in the caucus but didn't know how - here is your chance. In January, we will be holding elections to expand our leadership team, fill the second Co-Chair role, the two Communications Co-Chair roles and our Events Chair role. Descriptions of the various roles and responsibilities can be found here. 

To run for any of the roles listed please email us at womenscaucus@democratsabroad.org.uk with the subject RUN by January 10th so that we can get back to you with the relevant information.  

To vote in the election please email womenscaucus@democratsabroad.org.uk with the subject VOTE by January 17th and we will send you your anonymous ballot via email.

Global Women's Caucus Inauguration Event

Calling all volunteers! 
 

On November 7th, 2020, Kamala Harris, the newly elected Vice President of the United States, stepped up on stage and began her acceptance speech by stating, “...that America’s democracy is not guaranteed. It is only as strong as our willingness to fight for it, to guard it, and never take it for granted.”

For the first time in many people’s lifetime, this election has displayed that action makes change — that voices, when united, are loud. Therefore, the Global Women’s Caucus of Democrats Abroad is accepting the torch that Vice President Kamala Harris has delivered to the people, and we are extending the responsibility of action to you.

Join us on January 23rd at 10 am EST (US and Canada) for a celebration of the newly inaugurated Biden-Harris administration, as we share our plans for the coming year and present the many and varied opportunities for volunteering that the Global Women’s Caucus offers world-wide. Each of our Global Action Teams will give a short presentation on plans going forward and suggest ways that members can help out.
