Emerson Oakland PTA
Thank you to the 29 people who attended our second PTA Association Meeting of the year on November 12th! It was smaller meeting than our first in both attendance and scope but, as always, a wonderful opportunity to maintain community.
For our January meeting we will continue as a group to think more about how to measure the things we care about--the basic building blocks of math and reading, seeding our kids' lifelong love of learning, multicultural friendships and more. Join us!
Translation available.
Look for Zoom link and meeting agenda in the school Cheetah Check-In! For questions or comments click to email Courtney, SSC President.
December 2020 SSC Meeting
In our December Summit on Success (which had record turn-out!) we heard from Principal Palin on some of our ongoing challenges and most exciting growth (check out this awesome list below of some of our best successes as a community!), Ms. Dexter broke down standards, objectives, grades, and testing for us, and we had a great discussion--in small groups, and as a big crew--about our collective dreams for our kids (facilitated by Emerson papa Brandon Dawkins).
We were inspired by author Jack Schneider's words: "Our schools would be better off if we measured all of the things we care about and not just the things that are convenient.”
