Boredom Busters...
- Houseplants Online Class - To meet the demand and interest in gardening, CSU Extension has created a new, non-credit, public course on Houseplants, perfect for gardening enthusiasts and beginners alike. If you're new to houseplants or know someone who's interested - no matter where they live - consider this science-based course developed by CSU Extension's Dr. Alison O'Connor! - Drone Pilot Classes - The CSU Drone Flight School is now being offered in an online format. This course teaches everything needed to pass the FAA Part 107 Knowledge Exam. The course consists of self-taught learning modules and 6 live review and Q&A sessions with the instructors in evenings throughout the course. The next course will be taught January 2nd – January 16th. The course costs $199. Registration for the course can be completed here. Another course option.

Boredom Busters for Kids...
- Register for Virtual Critter Corner 2021! - Registration closes January 8th. January's session on Winter Animal Care will be led by Beth De Lair, CSU Extension Pueblo County 4-H and Youth Development Coordinator. February will feature dog enrichment by Haley Cole-Moench of the Animal Friends Alliance. March will feature hands-on genetics learning with CSU Extension Western Region STEM Specialist, Barb Shaw." - AI for Oceans - Code.org’s hit AI tutorial, AI for Oceans, is now available in 25+ languages and optimized for mobile devices. Help A.I. bot clean the oceans by training it to detect trash, while learning about training data and bias, and the potential for using AI to address world problems.
- Colorado 4-H participant Gitanjali Rao named TIME’s Kid of the Year - TIME named 15-year-old scientist and inventor Gitanjali Rao the first-ever Kid of the Year. Rao was selected from a field of more than 5,000 Americans ages 8 to 16. A resident of Lone Tree, Colorado, Rao is an involved 4-H participant in Douglas County. Rao was selected as TIME’s first Kid of the Year for her astonishing work using technology to tackle issues, ranging from contaminated drinking water to opioid addition to cyberbullying. She researches scientific tools such as artificial intelligence and carbon nanotube sensor technology and applies them to problems she sees in everyday life. Read more about Rao and her award.
