Happy New Year,  Friends!
Wishing you and your families good health, and prosperous months ahead.

We wanted to send a newsletter earlier, but as instagram comedian Elsa Majimbo puts it, ooh it’s a pandemic. If you do not know her, we invite you to visit her IG account for a good laugh. The ordeal of the pandemic would certainly have been more difficult without the instagram humorists and the meme culture.

2020 happens to mark the 3rd anniversary of Untitled. We started this adventure three years ago in Marrakesh, with a lot of ambition, excitement and questions. Questions on collaboration, conditions and ethics of collaboration, and on the kind of projects we wish to be involved in. Over the past months, we couldn’t help but bring these questions back to the surface with a shift in our mind and perspective, and evaluate this ongoing journey. Doubt and frustration rose to the surface as well, truthfully it was an invitation to slow down and take a closer look at the essence of Untitled. We realised that our learning, or rather unlearning, comes from the conversation with you. Together, with and thanks to you, we are defining our curatorial positioning, and the concepts and stories we wish to tell. We may have started as a duo, but we have become a small community where we invest in each other to create for and with each other. Friends, International colleagues met in residencies and workshops, clients who became friends, and companions, we give thanks to you.

Where to now? We shall see. We look forward to exploring further the collaborative road we are mapping together.

NEW FRIENDSHIP
We are thrilled to announce our new friendship and partnership with Archive Books! We are taking curious baby steps onto the fascinating world of publishing. We therefore join a wide community of practitioners invested in collaborative, collective and cross-disciplinary publishing practices, to disrupt repressive narratives and foster alternative archival paradigms.
WHAT'S COMING
CURATORIAL

Since September 2020, we are the recipient of the Curatorial Research Grant: Rencontres d’Arles / Institut Français' second Africa Projects for our project IF A TREE FALLS IN A FOREST, on perception, representation and knowledge in African photography.

This research will be carried out in two phases. First, an online platform, where invited collaborators will explore questions raised and addressed by the edges and lacunae of sights. The second phase is rendered as a collective show in Arles, France. Details of this calendar will be shared in upcoming days.
