HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Premiere Charities, Inc. wishes everyone a very happy and prosperous new year.  2020 was filled with many challenges and PCI stepped up to meet many of them successfully. We are planning on many wonderful activities for 2021.

During this difficult time of the COVID-19 pandemic, Premiere Charities Inc. (PCI) has been assisting needy individuals throughout the community via the following activities:

* PCI has continued weekly to Serve Food to 150 - 200 individuals in need here in Wilmington.

* PCI extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Gurudwara of Delaware Temple for donating delicious meals to needy individuals throughout 2020.  Special thanks to Rupam Arora, Inderjit Singh, & the entire Volunteer Team of the Gurudwara.

 * PCI extends special thanks to Sigrid and Eric, Dave and Elaine, Regina and Claudia for their dedicated and continued service. PCI also extends warm wishes for Team B's continued success that includes: Meera, Shankar, Ron Davis, and Pam Cohen.

Website
 ~

Premiere Charities is very excited to announce we almost have a new website www.Premiere-Charities.com

Our launch date is 2-1-21. Look for it in our next newsletter.
.
Speaking of Newsletters ~

As of 2021 Premiere Charities hopes to present a monthly newsletter to everyone.

We are planning columns we will need your help with.  Please submit your thoughts for:

'Volunteer Voices'

'Stories from the Streets'

and others as we evolve and grow.

Also, please let us know if you'd like to be on the Newsletter Committee. (Obviously depends on your answer to the first question in this email.)

Speaking of announcements ~ Premiere Charities states our primary goal for 2021: Our own Kitchen.

A commercial, inspected, accessible, Department of Public Health approved Kitchen.  With refrigerators, freezers, ovens, sinks, dishwasher, counter space, etc. and storage space for chips, bread, containers, bags, napkins, plastic ware and more.

We hope to have our Board of Directors Meetings there - if we get enough space for it.

In the interim we are looking into renting kitchen space - at least for this winter.

And ~

Information regarding Department of Public Health Food Safety training courses will be available soon. We anticipate having three people from each Team attend online classes.

University of Delaware ~

Four Students from University of Delaware worked on a Challenge Program with Premiere Charities to create a functional electronic database of information. Oh, what help it is!!

On to our Gala ~

Who knows when our next fundraiser Gala will be?

Hopefully, we'll have one in 2021.

But, in the meantime ~

an alternate fundraiser event ~

One of our founders, current Team A Leader and PCI Board of Directors President, Dr. Vinny Kripalu, will be participating in a 48-hour run event on May 14,15,16 in North Jersey.  Vinny will be running (almost) non-stop thru that 48 hours. WOW!

Vinny will utilize his participation as a fundraiser event for Premiere Charities.  Please see future newsletters for updates and details.

And The Van ~

What would we do without our Van?

We recently took The Van to Concordville Nissan for some service. We got a new battery and tires, had an airbag recall addressed and performed an oil change.  Safety first.

The Van is safer for the winter and our Volunteers. We're going back soon for a complete detailing too.

The Serve ~

Premiere Charities is proud of our history.  Since 12-26-09, now in our 12th year, we're Serving Sunday lunches to the food-insecure, homeless and now coronavirus affected people of Wilmington.  We've modified our process and reduced the number of Sunday Volunteers but have gotten back to The Serve.

On the line, we...

- mark 6' socially distant spacing

- offer no choices - the bag is grab and go

- post signs

- work with fewer Volunteers

- have an inventory of masks on The Van to share as needed

Please let us know if you'd like to volunteer again or make a donation.

The 1-1-21 'bag ban law' ~

Does it affect From Our Kitchen? No.

For information, please review here:

https://news.delaware.gov/2020/12/01/plastic-carryout-bag-ban-effective-on-jan-1-2021/

Finally, COVID-19 ~

Our sympathies and prayers are with all the people that have lost family, friends or beloved to coronavirus.

Our thanks and gratitude is with all our frontline-ers still working on our behalf - medical, emergency, fire, police, rescue, retail, delivery, food services, and anyone we missed.

Our hope is with a Vaccine made available to everyone as soon as possible!

PLEASE continue to wash your hands, wear your mask, and keep your social distance. Be patient, safe, and kind.

See you in February!
