December Dedications 2020

This year has been full of challenges. But, it’s a tradition here at For A Better Tomorrow (FBT) to spend this time of year reflecting on the bright spots. At the top of our list is tremendous appreciation for support from our volunteers, donors and advocates. So this month, more than ever before, we’re grateful for these dedicated individuals.

Below is a quick preview of our recent posts. For more December Dedications follow us on Facebook and Instagram.

  • FBT is a volunteer led organization with an operating board that engages in everything we do. To leverage expertise and expand our reach, FBT created an advisory council. Since inception this council consisting of community volunteers have provided counsel, opened doors to recruit collaborators, volunteers and donors. Their engagement has helped us conduct our work and advance our mission. We appreciate their willingness to assist in spite of their busy schedules.
  • Volunteers are who make YICU possible. For A Better Tomorrow is proud to be a volunteer led organization. We thank the YICU steering committee members for the countless hours they have spent planning to organize and honor youth in our community. Many of these committee members are young leaders and past winners themselves. Youth recognizing youth. We are in awe of these young leaders and give us great joy working with them.
  • Our mission is to promote social justice by meeting needs in the local community and the world through accountable, sustainable philanthropy and by nurturing future generations of servant leaders. We cannot advance our mission without the generous support from our donors and sponsors. Several of these advocates have renewed their support annually. We appreciate the trust and advocacy these donors have bestowed in us. We cannot do what we do with the generous support from our donors and volunteers. We value your donation of time, talent and treasure.
  • United Way and CEFCU have served as Kite Fest sponsors for the last five years. Their support has enabled us to serve many nonprofits in the community. Thank you for helping us help others. We truly appreciate your sponsorship and support.
  • Congratulations to all the 2020 YICU Service Award Nominees. We were thrilled to have had the opportunity to celebrate you this year. You helped us believe in goodness in others and the hope for a better tomorrow. And we thank you for that and for your willingness to serve others.
  • Congratulations once again to all the YICU Service Award Winners. We are inspired by and grateful for all your work in our community. THANK YOU! for leading and serving. You inspire and create hope for all of us. We thought you would want to see the comments your peers and attendees shared during the event.
  • As part of our local philanthropy efforts, FBT donates $250 towards a nonprofit , selected by each of the YICU service award winners. FBT also grants 3-4 grants to McLean County nonprofits through its youth leadership program, YGC. This year YGC alumni donated more than $3,150. YICU contributed $3,000 to local nonprofits. Several donors and sponsors enable FBT sustain these philanthropic efforts. THANK YOU, donors for donating to YICU year over year. We cannot provide this assistance locally without your support.
  • FBT's project recruitment committee recruits, reviews and recommends local and global grant requests to our Board for approval. It takes 9-12 months to vet global projects from application to funding. This committee consists of several dedicated volunteers - Akhil Vytla, Janet Hood, Mark Killick, Naomi Rugutt, Ram Vakkalanka, Richard Osterman and Pennie Gray (Chair). This collective has worked hard to reach diverse nonprofit partners from Guatemala to Kenya over the years. We appreciate their patience, dedication and passion to serve. They continue to make sustainable impact through the projects FBT funds and the lives that these projects touch.
