Why is Habitat so important in our community? We believe that affordable homeownership changes the trajectory of the lives of children. A study by the Homeownership Alliance of Nonprofit Downpayment Providers illustrates that children of homeowners versus children of renters:
Have higher math and reading scores
Have high school graduation rates 25% higher
Have college graduation rates 116% higher
Have decreased behavior issues and truancy rates
In this pandemic it has been critical that we meet the emergency needs of food and shelter for people in our community.
