2020 was not the year any of us imagined it would be, but we never expected the incredible response from this community to meet critical needs.  Thanks to volunteers, sponsors, and donors like you, we overcame unforeseen obstacles and grew this organization to act as a resource across all of the communities that we serve during this challenging time.

The difficulties that this unprecedented year brought are the reasons that we built this organization- because we believe in the ability of every individual to make an impact.  More than ever before, we saw the importance of our support for one another through challenging times and the resilience of our community to rise to the occasion.

With your partnership, we continued to support and grow the programs for which we’ve come to be known while pivoting to respond to changing needs.  When COVID hit, our network of volunteers and partner organizations enabled us to serve as a resource hub to make meaningful connections between those who had a need and those with something to give.

As we count down to the New Year, we are so grateful for all that we have accomplished with your partnership over the last 6 years.  Thank you for sharing our vision of a thriving, multi-generational Community of Doers.

Looking ahead to 2021, we will continue to SPUR good deeds whatever the year may bring.  We seek further occasions to engage with one another while impacting our communities. We look to increase volunteer and enrichment opportunities and establish greater partnerships with other mission-driven organizations.
Join us in the New Year and resolve to be part of our Community of Doers.

SPUR's 2020 Impact

SPUR mobilized more than 1,000 households through 1,644 volunteer opportunities to make a positive impact across the communities of Lynn, Marblehead, Salem and Swampscott.
Through SPUR’s newly expanded Community Roots Garden at the Church of St. Andrew, volunteers harvested approximately 900 pounds of organic produce for local food pantries and individuals facing food insecurity.

Working in their own kitchens, SPUR volunteers prepared 2,470 meals for area shelters.

Sponsors provided 663 local children with new backpacks full of school supplies & 598 Bundles of Cheer through SPUR’s two annual drives.

At SPUR’s biannual community clean ups, volunteers collected hundreds of pounds of trash from 39 parks and beaches.
While growing and supporting these programs which are central to SPUR’s mission, the organization mobilized volunteers in new ways to meet emerging challenges brought on by the global pandemic.  Through its COVID-19 response, volunteers were paired with individuals in need of grocery deliveries, prescriptions, phone buddies, dog walking, and more.  Volunteers sewed over 700 reusable fabric face masks for area shelters and senior living facilities.
