_______
ELECTORAL POLITICS
As Miami DSA prepares to vote on its next campaign, we also want to begin a broader dialogue about how/when/why we choose to engage in electoral politics. Where does it make sense for us to put our time, effort, and resources? How can certain positions be swayed towards our demands? Do we work within or outside of the current electoral system? How do we do both, etc.?
To that end, DSA, YDSA at FIU, and local members involved with Movement for a People's Party (MPP) are planning a meeting to discuss all of these aspects and more. We will have the regional coordinator from MPP speak with us about their work to build a new non-corporate-funded major party, and how organizations like Miami DSA might play a role in such an effort. We may also discuss, compare, and debate strategies associated with infiltrating existing (i.e. Democratic) party structures to achieve our goals. If you have any interest in achieving our aims through electoral ends, you will enjoy the discussion we're planning for this meeting.

Saturday January 16th at 3pm.

BUILDING A WORKING CLASS ORGANIZATION TRAINING
Why build a mass organization and what will it take? This training with DSA National includes historical context, discussions, and breakouts to explore the idea of building a mass organization, and why DSA is committed to becoming a mass working class organization.
What you will take from it: a base level understanding of Y/DSA as a political project, the fundamentals of our uniting politics, and more clarity around what we’re trying to build together.
We strongly encourage our members attend this training on January 21st at 6pm. Building a Working Class Organization is at the basis of all of our work as a chapter.

MOBILIZING PAPER MEMBERS
We want as much input from as big a portion of our membership as possible in developing and voting on our next campaign. So we are reaching out to inactive and paper members to bring them into our organizing work. If you have capacity to call even just one or two members this week,
send an email to Morgan G. He will respond with instructions for how to direct the conversation and a list of members that need to be mobilized. You can also
attend our member phonebank on
Jan 18th at 7pm.
_______
NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION
Join us to find out more about the chapter and how to get involved. New members are encouraged to attend at least one orientation, and all members or interested guests are welcome! We host one orientation per month, usually on the second Sunday of the month.
