Please note that subscriptions for 2021 are now due and must be received by Monday 10th January in order for collections to continue. No price increase

SUBSCRIPTION CYCLE:

The current payment cycle runs from January to December 2021.

COST:

R40 per month per collection point or R480 for the whole year
(whether this is a household or a whole block of flats).

Please note: if you paid for April 2020 when there were no collections during lockdown you have a month’s credit for 2021 so please pay only R440.

If residents who have paid up for the year leave the area they will be reimbursed pro rata for months they will not be using the service.

BACKGROUND:

Before the implementation of Little Mowbray Rosebank Improvement District (LMRID) a perception survey was conducted which indicated there was strong support for a recycling initiative.  A small sub-committee of interested recyclers was established to look into various options. It proved to be far too expensive for LMRID to fund such an initiative for all residents. After lengthy research it was agreed to contract Averda (previously ‘Wasteman’) to collect recycling from those households interested and willing to pay a small monthly amount.

WHERE AVERDA WILL COLLECT:

The service has been extended to other parts of Rosebank and Mowbray that do not fall within the LMRID boundaries. The service is endorsed by LMRID but run independently from LMRID, by interested residents.

WHEN AVERDA COLLECTS:

Collections are fortnightly on Thursdays, from 8am onwards. See calendar below for dates.

HOW MUCH RECYCLING CAN YOU PUT OUT EACH TIME?

Averda will collect as many bags of recycling as you put out on each collection day.

MUST RECYCLING BE SORTED?

No
, recycling materials do not need to be sorted, provided they are uncontaminated with food, and put into your own clear plastic bags (which can be bought from most supermarkets). To save space, let all the air out of plastic bottles with lids, by flattening them & putting the lid on tightly.
