BUILDING OUR FUTURE

TRANSITIONS, CHANGES & NEW OPPORTUNITIES

Dear <<First Name>>

It has been a very different year! We have learned how to quickly adjust to a situation, learn new skills and, unfortunately, be disappointed many times throughout the year. As we look forward to a new year remember to believe in the future, find hope in all situations, and carry a peace within you. District 4 members have supported each other, continue to have club meetings, fundraisers, service projects and help in our communities.  We came together for the EMEN Campaign and 16 Days of Activism. Many shares, posts and share your story were done by District 4 Clubs during the year.
We continue our journey into a new Zonta Century. I encourage and challenge you and your club to take an active role in our District 4 events.  We have Books n Beverages, D4 Talks, D4 Learning and D4 Training events scheduled, Spring Area Workshop and Conference. D4 Board and Committee Chairs are willing and excited to share their knowledge and be part of one of your club meetings. We are here for you.

We all are COMETZ – Creating Opportunities Motivating & Empowering Tomorrow’s Zontians!

District 4 is in this together and we will succeed together to empower women and girls globally. Stay positive and let your light shine. We are a team called District 4! 33 clubs strong with over 675 members!

See you in the new year!

In Zonta service,
Janice

The District 4 Awards Committee is very pleased to announce that Madison Buchholz, submitted by the Zonta Club of Niagara Falls, NY, has been selected as the District 4 Jane M. Klausman Women in Business scholarship winner for 2020.  Sarah will receive $2,000 from Zonta International as the District 4 recipient. The District 4 Awards Committee received 5 applications from the clubs in District 4. The candidates were all exceptional young women.

Madison earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Niagara University in 2020 and expects to complete her a Master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Strategic Marketing from Niagara University in January, 2021.   She intends to pursue her PhD in Marketing at the State University of New York – Buffalo in September, 2021.  Madison’s professional goal is to advocate for equality for women in business.  She eventually hopes to become a professor to teach marketing and ethics.

In addition to her academic accomplishments, Madison has a long track record of service to others.

The ZC of Corry hosts drawing for $5,000

Sandy Zeaman, left, president of the Zonta Club of the Corry Area, watches as Pastor Dan McEldowney picks the winning ticket for Zonta’s car/cash raffle.

The Zonta Club of the Corry Area held its annual car/cash raffle on Dec. 3. This year, the raffle was held privately with the club’s board of directors present.
A Corry couple were the winners of a grand prize drawing of $5,000.
Also, 25 tickets were drawn first, and those ticket holders were given back the $50 cost of their ticket. Those tickets were then put back in the bin for a chance at the grand prize.
The club sells 225 tickets each year. Normally, the tickets sell for $100 each and the grand prize is $10,000. The annual event includes a dinner for ticket holders, free drinks, a Chinese auction and 50-50 raffles.
However, without the expenses incurred by hosting a dinner this year, the club elected to cut the price of the ticket in half, thus making the grand prize half the usual amount.
The Zonta Club of the Corry Area takes any money made from the raffle and donates it back to the community in the form of contributions to local nonprofits, such as the Salvation Army, the Corry Public Library and a shelter for victims of abuse.

Zonta Club of Kitchener Waterloo members donated items for Christmas bags for 25 residents of the Nobel House group home.
Pictured below is charter member Sandy Travers who organized the community project.

Your communications team sends you this special "Covid Christmas' song. Hope you have the best holiday possible under the circumstances! See you next year!
