The newDemocracy Foundation and the Institute for Sustainable Futures are pleased to offer two new courses in Deliberative Democracy.

Leading deliberative democracy

Registrations are now open

Leading Deliberative Democracy is specifically designed for elected representatives, senior decision-makers and leaders within organisations. You will gain key insights from leaders who have overseen successful deliberative processes, and learn how you can apply the principles of deliberative processes to address the complex issues your organisation is facing.

Together we’ll explore what deliberative democracy is, how it is different to traditional citizen engagement processes, when to use deliberative processes and how they are designed to deliver recommendations from a diverse and representative group of society. Join us in this leader's course to learn how to be a driving force in democratic innovation that delivers public judgment, not public opinion.

This course offers you rich online content to work through at your own pace, as well as unique access to deliberative democracy experts via a moderated forum throughout the course and a live webinar discussion in the final week.

When: First course starts on 1 February, 2021 and takes five to six hours over three weeks
Cost: $450

Doing deliberative democracy

Registrations will open shortly

Doing Deliberative Democracy is designed for community engagement staff, professional facilitators and anyone interested in learning how deliberative processes such as mini-publics and citizens assemblies are designed and run. Deliberative processes can help you to address the most complex issues your community or organisation is facing.

Together with a cohort of peers and guided by experts you will get hands-on experience in designing and delivering a deliberative process. Learn online, interact in group work and participate in live webinars to master deliberative process design and delivery.

This six-week course will be offered online with interactive sessions and small group work throughout.

When: First course starts in mid-2021 and takes 25 hours over six weeks
Cost: $1,650
