A Holiday Message
During this Holiday Season, we would like to say few words about the promise of our partnership with you.  For eight years, we have focused on providing a range of assistance to the AAPI community and indeed anyone that needs help.  We have worked in partnership with the State, community, and other agencies in human, economic development services, and health and wellness activities.  While our vision is to establish a stable and self-sustained Asian community, at ACRC "All Communities Receive Compassion."

We have not let the challenges of COVID-19 disrupt out commitment to providing all our standard services.  We have adopted processes and recommended guidelines to ensure the health and safety of our clients and team.

For five years, we have partnered with Nevada Health Link.  Our Navigators have provided a valuable service to anyone in need of health insurance.

At ACRC, we are creators of and witnesses to moments of magic when we partner with organizations, foundations, institutions, and businesses to address the needs of individuals or the broader community.  Together we have assisted many over the last 8 years. This year, the need has been greater as has been our resolve.  Our impact cannot be fully captured quantitatively, and is often hard to describe in reports as there is a human dimension that cannot be quantified.

On behalf of our entire team, thank you for your support of ACRC and our mission. We look forward to doing great things together again in 2021. Our best wishes to you and your family for a joy-filled, peaceful and prosperous New Year.

Emily Higby,
Executive Director

Christmas Traditions
Christmas Eve in Mandarin is ‘ping an ye’. The word apple is ‘ping guo’ which sounds very similar. So it's no surprise that in China apples engraved with well wishes are a popular gift for friends, colleagues, and loved ones during the season.

Christmas Traditions
Everyday from December 16th to the Eve of Christmas on the 24th, Filipino Catholics rise before the crack of dawn for Simbang Gabi.  This is a nine-day series of masses, each held almost as early as 4:00am. The practice builds anticipation for Christmas.

AARP’s mission is to empower people to choose how they live as they age.

Since its inception in 1958, AARP has grown and changed dramatically in response to societal changes, while remaining true to its founding principles:

  • To promote independence, dignity and purpose for older persons
  • To enhance the quality of life for older persons
  • To encourage older people "To serve, not to be served"

Senior Community Service Employment Program

The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is the nation's oldest program to help low-income, unemployed individuals aged 55+ find work.

AARP Foundation first matches eligible older job seekers with local nonprofits and public agencies so they can increase skills and build self-confidence, while earning a modest income. Based on their employment interests and goals, participants may also receive supportive services and skills training through an educational institution. Their SCSEP experience most often leads to permanent employment.

SCSEP is administered by the U.S. Department of Labor. AARP Foundation operates in 21 states and Puerto Rico.
