Jeff’s Development Group men got into character during this Inductive Bible Study training session.

What a memorable year! Hundreds of Guatemalan college students heard the gospel in their English classes from our students on Spring Break. Kate returned from Spring Break to the news that universities were going all-online. Summer Missions were canceled, and instead we offered summer growth opportunities over video calls.

The Fall Semester kicked off with an outdoor student-led “Restart Retreat.” We had outdoor touchpoints with hundreds of new students during Fall Welcome Week. To follow pandemic restrictions, we put on Thursday Cru meetings in an outdoor amphitheater, a parking garage, online, and then in 4 different rooms at the same time.

Students were challenged that “Jesus is not just a hobby” at Fall Day Getaway. We shared the gospel personally outdoors, indoors with masks, over Zoom, and on Facetime calls.

More than those events, our biggest highlight from 2020 has been the students and staff we have been able to disciple who will in turn make disciples of others.

Jeff’s rowdy group of men in his Development Group have been learning how to study the Bible and how to apply the Gospel to the sin areas that trip them up.

Kate’s Leadership Group students have needed a lot of care as they have struggled during the pandemic, but they continue to take steps of faith to reach younger students.

Our staff have been champs, rolling with the changes and trying new things every week. We’ve needed to help each other keep things in perspective: Christ is king; the weight of building His kingdom is on His shoulders; He is always at work. All we can do is step out in faith and leave the results to Him.

Thank you for locking arms with us to keep introducing college students to Christ throughout the challenging beautiful journey of 2020! Merry Christmas!

Cru intern Kait posted this on Instagram, thankful for the chance to meet with her girls online.

Please pray...

After Thanksgiving, WMU classes switched to online only. Pray for students because it is hard to engage online, both with their academics and with Christian community. Even some of our strong Christian students are struggling with depression and thoughts of self-harm. Pray for students to stay connected to Christ at this time, in deep dependence, like a branch stays connected to a tree trunk (John 15!).
