MURRAY CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP

Where
Everyone Matters
2020
VERY DIFFICULT ... BUT GOOD YEAR

The end of the MSU semester came early, Nov 20, with a flurry of emotions, exams and unmet expectations.  Throughout it all, these realities remained true:  Our God is …
… compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining loyal love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.”  Exodus 34:6-7

From our study of the amazing unified story of God’s love and faithfulness that culminates in Jesus (aka. The Bible), we saw time and time again these character qualities lived out. There were narratives and poems, prophecies and laments, teachings and proclamations …  like Jonah’s self-centered proclamation So he prayed to the LORD,
saying, “O LORD, is this not what I said while I was still in my own country? This is why I was so quick to flee toward Tarshish. I knew that You are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion—One who relents from sending disaster. 3And now, O LORD, please take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live.” Jonah 4:2

… and a prayer of David Psalm 86
Hear me, Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. Guard my life, for I am faithful to you; save your servant who trusts in you. You are my God; have mercy on me, Lord, for I call to you all day long. Bring joy to your servant, Lord, for I put my trust in you. You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you. Hear my prayer, Lord; listen to my cry for mercy.
When I am in distress, I call to you, because you answer me. Among the gods there is none like you, Lord; no deeds can compare with yours. All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord; they will bring glory to your name. For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God. Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths, from the realm of the dead. Arrogant foes are attacking me, O God; ruthless people are trying to kill me— they have no regard for you. But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. Turn to me and have mercy on me; show your strength in behalf of your servant; save me, because I serve you just as my mother did. Give me a sign of your goodness, that my enemies may see it and be put to shame, for you, Lord, have helped me and comforted me.

If there is anything we have experienced from these strange and turbulent times it is this, our GOD keeps promises … and during this time of Advent, may we work while we wait with great anticipation and expectation on Jesus coming into our lives.

CHRIS TRIMBLE
I am a Music Education major and my graduation date will be December, 2021.

MCF has ministered to me, this semester, through MCF Worship nights and through their hospitality. I currently rent the upstairs room of the MCF house to live in while I finish my degree at Murray State.  Mike Kerrick has been a great minister to me and the rest of the college students who attend the MCF functions throughout the week.  Through the BibleProject, presented at the MCF worship nights, I learned aspects of the Bible and my walk with Christ that I have never considered before.

One of my fondest memories, of living at the MCF house, was coming into the house and seeing the many different bible study groups come in, throughout the week, and study from God's Word. From international to alumni, meeting new people, hearing their stories of how their walk with the Lord began, and bonding over our love, for the Lord, is something I will cherish even after I graduate college.

Thank you so much, MCF, for your hospitality and your guidance for me to be the best disciple of Christ I can be!!

Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences to the family of

DONNIE HENDRIX

Join us in praying for comfort for the First Christian Church family in the loss of organist, Donnie Hendrix.  For many years, he helped create a sacred space for worship through his amazing, God-given musical skills. He worked with Mark Dycus' Chancel Choir, sang with the Men’s Ensemble, helped with special music, gave piano lessons, and played at countless weddings, funerals, and special services, always going the extra mile to add personal touches. He especially enjoyed playing the organ with Judy Hill on the piano and Julie Warner on the clarinet. His joy was contagious, he loved unconditionally and always without judgment, and he was extravagant in his generosity.  Donnie was a great encourager of MCF and we will remember him.

We thank you for your continued financial and prayerful support!
