Ring a bell. Light a light. Bang a pot. Beat a drum.
Thank you, thank you, everyone.
Welcome twenty twenty-one.
Tell everyone! Tell everyone.
Two members of our writing group have proposed a local event to thank and offer a show of hope and support to all those who keep us safe and healthy, to those who keep the economy going and to all of us who are doing our best to help each other through the pandemic. She and Chris have been working hard to get it off the ground and the event is starting to gain momentum.
Spreading the Word - 4pm New Year's Day for five minutes.
( 5 min adds up: 2+0+2+1 = 5)
Some of the activities already confirmed:
• Some churches in Midland and Penetanguishene will ring their bells to start off the celebration.
• Penetanguishene and Midland councils are supportive.
• Askennonia members will be reminded in the eblast.
• Notifications will be going up on social media.
• Local chapters of groups like Probus will be notifying their membership, so this could easily go viral.
• Signs will go up in local businesses as a reminder of the event.
If you have any ideas about how Chris and Pat can create this event,
contact Pat Schofield at: dpatschofield@gmail.com
or Chris Lyons at: jandclyons2011@gmail.com
The more of us we can get on board with this, the bigger it can be.

NEW MEMBER REGISTRATIONS ACCEPTED VIA MAIL AND CHEQUE.
2021 Renewals will only be accepted after we open in the Rec Centre. Please wait. Your current membership is valid until that time. Please don't send renewals for 2021 at this time.
The Board of Directors has decided to extend the membership of all existing 2020 paid up members until the Centre is able to safely open. This will be sometime after the new year. At that time the Board will determine the renewal price.
We have had many enquiries from people wanting to join as new members. New memberships paid now will cover 2020 and all of 2021. People are interested in the virtual, outdoor and Wye Marsh programs. The cost will be $50.
At this point, the only way we can safely accept payment is by cheque via mail. If you print off the registration form above or access it on our website and mail it to us, we will register you, make your membership card and mail it back to you. You need the card to show at Wye Marsh and any other opportunities we are able to line up for you.
We would appreciate if existing 2020 members wait until we reopen or have an online solution to renew. We'll provide updates as soon as they become available.
