Cosmic Airstream Art
A tale of 2 Brits

One of the unexpected things that has come from my obsession with shiny trailers, is all the friends I've made.

One of my more recent connections is with an Englishman called Jason Reed who shares my love for Airstream trailers.

It all started 10 years ago when I found a photo online of his adorable Airstream mobile coffee shop.  I did a painting from the photo and it was to be my very first of many Airstream paintings.

A few months ago he found a photo of the painting online and got in touch.  We started following each other on Instagram, he admiring my artwork, me admiring his lovely trailers that he uses for events in Florida.

A few weeks ago, Jason posted a photo of the Cosmic Cafe trailer that knocked my socks off and I immediately contacted him to ask his permission to use it for a painting.  He said yes!

In the photo, his trailer is parked next to the Foosaner Art Museum.  He has been part of a number of exhibitions and events there and feels very connected to the place

Sadly, the Museum is to close soon and he asked if I would like to put the painting in an upcoming show there.  He put me in touch with the organizers and this painting will be part of the Robot Love Event opening the 15th of January.

Jason and I bonded over our shared love of Airstreams and being Brits in America.

Over the last few decades he has custom fitted and restored trailers, provided them for movies and television productions, music festivals and video shoots, weddings, private parties and even wakes.  He has bought and sold them, shipping 30 Airstreams over to Europe from the States..

Now he lives in Florida and can be hired to supply trailers and other vintage inspired decor for events.

After some phone calls and online chats, he feels like a friend.

Today I'm packing up this new painting and shipping it to Florida.  Do stop by the museum if you're in the Melbourne area next month.
Thank you for being on my mailing list, I appreciate you.

I've had some questions about the painting techniques and materials I use, so I'm planning a few newsletters about this in the new year.  Do feel free to email me your questions or ideas for future newsletters.

Happy Holidays!

Elizabeth
