"The eagle has landed"
Alaska received its first shipment of the COVID-19 vaccine earlier this week and vaccinations have begun. 35,100 doses of the Pfizer and BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine were safely distributed across Alaska. Frontline healthcare workers, long-term care facility residents and staff, certain EMS/fire personnel, Community Health Aide/Practitioners (CHA/Ps), and vaccine administrators are currently able to receive their first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination. A shipment of 17,900 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine are expected to be delivered to Alaska later this month. Both vaccines require two doses.

We thank Alaska's COVID-19 Task Force, a joint partnership between the Alaska Department of Health and Socials Services and the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, for being diligent in the organization and implementation of Alaska's vaccine distribution plan.
Alaska is currently in Phase 1a of its COVID-19 vaccine availability; there are three COVID-19 vaccine availability phases. The vaccine supply is limited and will be increasingly available into 2021. Alaska's general public will have the choice to decide which vaccine, if any, they choose to receive during Phase 3. You can learn more about about the COVID-19 vaccine, community resources, and more by visiting DHSS's COVID-19 vaccine webpage.

Legislative Fly-In
The Alaska Chamber's Legislative Fly-In will take off on January 27th and 28th of next year. While the 2021 Legislative Fly-In will be virtual, the Alaska Chamber plans to keep the agenda as similar as possible to the event's traditional format. To do so, the event will boast a total of three to four group presentations in addition to meetings with legislators. Registration details and additional information will be available in the coming weeks. We marked our calendars and look forward to seeing everyone "there!" To sponsor the Legislative Fly-In please contact Kati Capozzi, Alaska Chamber President & CEO, directly.
COVID-19 ECHO
Alaska's ECHO Project is a series of virtual videoconferences organized by the UAA Center for Human Development that aims to provide educators, service providers, case managers, administrators, families, and others access to expert advice from professionals throughout the state and country. The COVID-19 ECHO is a partnership between UAA CHD, DHSS, the Alaska Department of Education & Early Development (DEED) and Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) to help keep Alaskans informed about COVID-19. You can learn more by visiting DHSS's COVID-19 ECHO Informational Sessions webpage.

Alaska shines bright
Alaskans from all corners of the state came together, but safely apart, over the weekend to shine a light on 2021. DHSS hosted Bring Back the Light on Sunday, December 20th, to represent the brighter days to come, as well as commemorate the Alaskans we have lost to COVID-19. You can see photos and videos from the event by searching #WithYouAlaska on social media.
Alyeska Pipeline Service Co.
Congratulations to Alyeska Pipeline Service Company for earning a 30 million safety milestone! On December 15, 2020, Alyeska Pipeline's staff and TAPS workforce went 30 million hours without any Days Away From Work Cases (DAFWC). Six years with zero DAFWC is an impressive feat that any company should be proud of!
