The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) which began on April 1, 2020 will expire on December 31, 2020. Employees who are currently using FFCRA leave are expected to report back to work on Monday January 4, 2020 (or their first scheduled shift after December 31, 2020) unless approved for leave under the options below. Employees who need leave for COVID related reasons previously covered under this Act, should partner with their supervisor or Agency HR contact to discuss additional options available to you. Each of these options has their own approval processes. 

  • Use your available accrued leave; Sick leave, Vacation, Comp time etc. (HR Policy 4-200)
  • Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) – If you require time off due to a serious illness or injury for yourself or to care for an immediate family member, you may be eligible for leave under FMLA. Please contact your supervisor for information on how to request FMLA.
  • ALSmith@slco.org – For more information on reasonable accommodations and how to apply for an accommodation under the American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA) contact Alison Smith, Employee Relations/ADA Coordinator, 385-468-0583 or Reasonable Accommodation (ADA)
  • Short-term Disability (STDi)- For information on the Salt Lake County STDi program contact the Benefits team at, 385-468-0580 or Benefits@slco.org
    • STDi is a voluntary salary continuation benefit that can be used in conjunction with an approved Leave of Absence, as outlined in HR policy 4-200.
  • Long-term Disability (LTD) – For information on the Salt Lake County LTD program contact the Benefits team at, 385-468-0580 or Benefits@slco.org

Please understand that the above options do not guarantee approval or additional leave and must be approved through the appropriate processes and procedures. 
 
We are monitoring the legislative environment for any changes or an extension to FFCRA, and will provide any updates as they become available.

The new Sexual Harassment training is now available in Saba. The training reviews HR Policies 3-100 Harassment, Discrimination and Retaliation and 3-300 Standards of Conduct. It also defines sexual harassment, intent vs. impact, reporting, retaliation, and dating in the workplace. This is a required bi-annual training for all employees that is approximately 30-35 minutes and is due June 30, 2021. You can access the training here.
