Happy New Year and Welcome 2021!

Good evening <<First Name>>

Wishing you and your family a heartfelt, healthy, and more normal 2021 - Happy New Year!!  I have missed seeing so many of you and hope to see you over the course of the year!

I am glad that 2020 forced us to slow down. Hopefully we can appreciate what is really important to us and work out all the things that we can and can't live without.

Sorry you had to wait a little longer for the January newsletter but I’m excited to have so much good stuff to share and I just needed a little more time to get it all together!!  Enjoy the beautiful Diablo sunrise in the picture above!

The latest and greatest kicks off with some super fun pictures from a graduation session I photographed last year...with and without cap and gowns!  School is still taking a different shape but that doesn't mean that kids can't have fun during their senior year!!

The business spotlight introduces two new aspects to our business!  Mini sessions that run throughout the year!  The recent success with mini sessions and client feedback from the events has led me to plan to run them over the course of the year in various locations...see some of the details below and of course don't forget to check the website for updates!

The special this month offers 20% off all gallery prints!  So if you didn't get around to printing any of the images you liked from your gallery last year...or a previous year!  Now's your chance...email me for the current price list!

For the photographer in you offers a sneak into the lenses I carry in my camera bag when I'm out and about and my own camera fun comes from sunsets on Diablo!

On a personal note, I am always setting challenges and last year purchased a the poppy pass for hiking on Diablo.  This year I've signed up for the 52 Hike Challenge - yep, one a week roughly...not all on Diablo though!  Let me know if you'd like to join me on any :-)

Cheers and take care,

Latest and Greatest - Graduation Fun!

What fun for the latest and greatest to bring you highlights from a recent session.  Two sisters...one graduating from high school and one from college!  I had such fun with these girls.

They both started off with graduation hats and gowns and then stepped it up to glamorous little black dresses!  Thanks so much for being so fun and really bringing it all to your photo session!  I truly wish you the best of luck for 2021 and all the adventure it will bring you!

If you know anyone graduating in 2021, spring is a really lovely time to schedule a session!  Get in touch to make sure you treat the graduating student in your life!

Spotlight - Mini Sessions All Year Round!

Where do I start?  I’m so excited about things to come in 2021!  Kicking it off with launching mini sessions that take place throughout the year.  There will usually be a couple each month and depending upon the time of year.  Weather, combined with what’s in bloom determines the specific locations  - a wide variety throughout the Bay Area and beyond.  Take a look at the ones I have already scheduled here and don’t forget to check back to get the updates!

Print Sales...

I am also launching print sales - so exciting!  All prints will be available for purchase on my website and prices will depend upon the size of print ordered.  I expect to split them into the following categories - Abstract and Patterns, Wildlife, Coastal, Black and White and finally Triptych (one image split into 3 parts).  Some will be local to Northern California and some further afield!

I am also setting the sales up so that each print purchase will include a donation to a non-profit (specifics yet to be decided)...so you really can’t go wrong!

There is still some more work to do behind the scenes to get this going :-). I hope to announce the launch in the February newsletter and details of prints as they become available will be highlighted in the monthly newsletter.

If you would like a flavor of what’s to come...please check out this link where you can see a selection of some of the images that will be available for print soon.

January Special - Thank You! and 20% off all Gallery Prints for January only!

A special THANK YOU to everyone who booked with me in 2020!  To say that it was a tough year, is an understatement.  You all helped to make the year a little easier and I was honored to be able to capture you and your families in the moment!  If you were excited about my work and want to pass on the news for others to work with me, I always offer a $25 referral thank you for anyone refers me to someone who schedules their session!  The voucher can be used on any regular priced products, digital or print.  In addition, the new client also enjoys $25 off any products!

In case that isn’t enough, we also have a gallery print sale of 20% off regular prices running for the month of January!  If you’ve been holding off getting some wall art or just didn’t have the time last year... so is your chance!  Please email me for the latest price list!

For the Photographer in You -  The Long, the Wide, and the Fixed

No, it's not a spagetti western!

Anybody get any good toys over the holidays?  I’d love to hear about what gets you excited when it comes to camera gear!

This month I thought I would share a little about my own camera bag and what I bring in it from the perspective of lenses. The three things I choose are a long zoom lens (70-200), a wide lens (20mm) and a fixed focal length lens -  50mm.  I find that these lenses cover most of my needs!  Prime lenses (fixed focal length) force you to move around to manage the content of the frame.  It is easy to get lazy with a zoom lens and 24-70mm is the king of all options...it can be good to limit your zoom options and take the step to seek out the picture you would really like to take!

...as always, do get in touch if you have any questions or would like to know more.

Little Ditty About My Own Camera Fun - Diablo Sunset Hiking!

The weather over the last few weeks has made it so lovely hiking in the East Bay.  Recently, I was at Artist's Point on Diablo and was lucky enough to catch a spectacular sunset!  Here are a few of my favorites from the evening.

Watch this space for upcoming prints for sale.
