COVID-19 Vaccine Information
Any individual included in IDOE’s School Nurse listserv received communication regarding vaccines available to those individuals who are part of the listserv.  

Individuals who have received an invitation for a COVID-19 vaccination directly through the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA) are encouraged to register for the vaccine if they are a practicing healthcare professional in a patient-facing role providing care. If you are a healthcare professional and have not received an email from IPLA, please update your email with IPLA to receive reminder emails. Additional information from the Indiana Department of Health on the vaccine can be found here.

U.S. Department of Education Annual ESSER and GEER Data Collection
A submission of the ESSER and GEER annual reports is required by the U.S. Department of Education, covering expenditures in the ESSER program (ESSER CFDA number 84.425D; GEER CFDA 84.425C) between March 13 and September 30, 2020. IDOE must submit all data to the U.S. Department of Education no later than February 1 which has required IDOE to limit the time available for LEAs and other non-LEA Entities who have received the funds to respond. The Annual Report Data Collection Tool will be open through January 22.  
The Data Collection Tools may be accessed on IDOE's CARES Act webpage.

Reminder: Form 9 Financial Data Submission
Form 9 financial data for the period of July 1 through December 31, 2020 must be submitted electronically through the DOE Online upload program.  The deadline to submit is January 31.

IMPORTANT
Beginning with Q2 2020-21 FY, ICSB will accept only Version 12.07.20 of the Financial Workbook. All submissions of any other versions of the Workbook will automatically be rejected. Updates include formatting and bug fixes. The Workbook is available for download at https://www.in.gov/icsb/2369.htm
Governing Board Requirements
All ICSB charter school governing boards must materially comply with applicable laws, rules and regulations, and all relevant provisions of the charter agreement relating to governance of the school by the governing board, including: 
  • Submitted Board Meeting Minutes for all meetings occurring during the year (four times a year).
  • An annual Economic and Conflict of Interest Report (by September 9).
  • Any amended governance documents (including, Articles, Bylaws, and Conflict of Interest policies, etc.) 
  • Notification to ICSB staff of changes to the Board, including Resumes and Conflict of Interest Forms for New Board Members
  • Ensuring that all ODL notice and access requirements are met
  • Ensuring that all state and federal law meeting requirements are met, including: i) quorum, ii) electronic participation, iii) conflict-of-interest, and iii) voting; 4) Ensure that minutes of each board meeting are kept, including, at a minimum: i) the date, time, and place of the meeting, ii) the members of the governing body recorded as either present or absent, including whether the member is participating electronically, iii) the general substance of all matters proposed, discussed, or decided, and iv) a record of all votes taken, by individual members if there is a roll call;

2021 Legislative Session
ICSB is closely monitoring education bills as they progress through the legislative session, and will provide updates on final changes impacting charter schools. 
Student Opportunities

Indianapolis Children's Museum - Virtual School Programs

The Indianapolis Children's Museum virtual programs give students and teachers a behind-the-scenes look at the museum and exclusive interaction with museum experts. Work live with our expert education team to complete an activity or investigation that correlates with Indiana Academic Standards. 

  • Examine replicas of Jurassic dinosaur bones.
  • Create a Chihuly-inspired piece of art.
  • Take part in a virtual visit to our rooftop garden led by museum staff. Create a garden in a glove and watch seeds grow.
  • See a real working paleontology lab while making a virtual visit to Dinosphere®.

Upcoming Events
Sixth Annual Indiana STEM Education Conference
The Indiana STEM Education Conference will be held virtually on Thursday, January 14, 2021. The theme for the conference is "STEM Education Meets a Global Challenge" and will feature up to 60 presentations including sessions on virtual learning and STEM instruction during the pandemic.Registration will open on October 5. Proposals for presenters may be submitted here until 5 p.m. (EDT) on November 13.
Reminder: Special Education Support Services Available
The PATINS Project specialists can help problem-solve issues surrounding accessibility, assistive technology, accessible educational materials, and implementing Universal Design for Learning. Educators can reach contact the PATINS Project through their open office hours at 10 a.m. (EDT) on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday through October. PATINS Project Specialists will be available during the Open Office Hours via Zoom. Please contact Daniel McNulty with any questions.
Lincoln Collection Educator Tours

Feb. 20, 2021; 1-3 p.m.

The Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites holds one of the world’s most comprehensive collection of Lincoln artifacts, the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection. Learn about the history of the collection and the objects within on a behind-the-scenes tour with our chief curator and researcher. Then, stroll through our galleries for key points of interest with a museum educator. Open to all Indiana educators. Reservations are required.
