Happy New Year to our Tri-Valley educators

As we enter 2021 and the second trimester of the year, we want to remind our educators in the Tri-Valley that our fully remote online lessons are available anytime. Our lessons are specifically designed for different grade levels and include materials and activities for teachers to assign or do with their students. Our staff has provided the materials and teachers have the flexibility of deciding when they fit into the curriculum!

The free lessons are available on our website. To receive a special gift for your students and take advantage of extra support, register your class in advance by visiting our lessons page and clicking the blue button to sign up your class or grade-level team! Signing up lets our staff know an educator is utilizing our lessons, but does not lock you into a specific presentation date. Once you sign up you will receive additional worksheets and lessons!

In this edition of Kid Zone we are showcasing an example of our Groundwater virtual lesson! Check out the activities below to get a sneak peak of what our lessons include. You can view the full lesson with more activities at https://www.wilkinsworksinc.com/zone-7-lessons/groundwater

Stay safe and have a Happy New Year!

Director, Zone 7 Schools Program

Who doesn't like to play with rocks and water?

What exactly is an aquifer? Where exactly does groundwater flow? The Zone 7 Water Agency Kid Zone team has been working hard to create an exciting lesson plan to help teach your students all about aquifers and groundwater where we live. Who doesn’t like to learn about things in our own backyard? We have created two great videos that allow your students to get their hands dirty while they learn.

The Wonder Down Under is the way we teach children about water under the surface, or groundwater. We have an exciting video where your students can learn about aquifers that allow water to flow beneath our feet. Everyone can follow along with our video and learn how water passes through the ground!

To get started, you will need the following items:
  1. Rocks
  2. Cup of Water
  3. Sponge
  4. Plastic bin
  5. Clear cup
If you enjoyed this lesson, we offer other free and exclusive lessons. Each lesson is fully remote and teachers can assign parts or all of the lesson, all on their own time schedule. When you sign up you will receive materials, teacher support, and a giveaway for your students. Sign up at www.zone7water.com/kidzone

Let's build an awesome aquifer!

In this lesson we are going to help define the groundwater vocabulary while we build an aquifer. Before you start, make sure to have a clear container, rocks, and some water, to follow along with the experiment. Click on this link to start the video,

As you continue to teach virtually, please let us know how yourself, and your students enjoy our videos and learning about aquifers and groundwater.  We hope you enjoy it as much as other educators and teachers have.
