Week of
25 December 2020 - 1 January 2021
Merry Christmas!

Thank you very much to the parish staff and all our parishioners who had a hand in preparing for the various Christmas Masses. Thank you for your flexibility and patience as we navigated these last days to try and keep the doors open so that we all could draw close to Our Lord. May our Lord lift each of you up this season! - Fr. Capuano

Resources for the Season of Christmas
We're mindful that the Christmas season begins with the Christmas Masses and continues to the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord, which replaces, usually, the first Sunday in Ordinary time.

  2. Blessing of the Tree
  3. Act of Consecration to the Holy Family
  4. Epiphany Blessing
    1. Every year we pass out blessed chalk for the Epiphany Blessing, pick up yours the weekend of 2-3 January.
Don't forget! January 1 is the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God

Program for 31 December/ 1 January

Year of St. Joseph!
On 8 December, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Holy Father announced the Catholic Church will be celebrating a year in honor of St. Joseph. This presents us with a wonderful opportunity to engage the faith with renewed vigor.

In addition to a men's retreat I would like to host in January/ February, what else might we do?

The Jeff Cavin’s Bible Timeline series will be offered by Fr. O’Reilly on a weekly basis starting on January 25th. Please consider joining us on Monday evenings to learn more about the Sacred Scriptures.

Fr. O’Reilly will be leading an Exodus 90 group starting January 4th. This program is open for all adult men of the parish and involves 90 days of spiritual preparation towards Easter. The group will perform acts of penance and read through the book of Exodus in order to better hear the voice of God in the desert. Please see the following information:  https://exodus90.com, or contact Fr. O'Reilly: joreilly@sjcpetersburg.com

General Year-End Gift Giving
This is the season we give thanks to God for all He has done for us this past year and throughout our lives.  It is also a good time to begin considering how we might give back some of our wealth or assets to Him with a special year-end gift.  Offering a financial gift is a way to express gratitude to the Lord for these blessings.

Take advantage of the charitable tax deduction for gifts made before December 31 (benefits of income tax deductions, capital gains savings, and other financial benefits), and consider the variety of gift options available to you.  Your gift to your parish can make a great difference.  There are a variety of ways you can contribute a gift.  The easiest and most direct methods are donations of cash, stock and IRA Charitable Rollover.

For more information on how you can help make a difference by contributing a year-end gift to St. Joseph, please contact the parish office: (804) 733-3115.

If you have any questions or need assistance of any kind please contact Peggy Andrews at: pandrews@sjcpetersburg.com, or 804-733-3115 ext. 12.
