While our community and the world continue to confront the ongoing pandemic, this is traditionally the season for hope, miracles, rededication, and new beginnings.

As daylight grows shorter and temperatures get colder, this is also one of the most challenging times of the year for many in any given year—all the more so in the challenging year of 2020.

With the pandemic and economic crises still impacting so many in our community, we need your help as we reflect on the symbolism of the Chanukah menorah, the light it shines during the darkest days of the year, and the warmth it brings during the coldest months of the winter season.

As demand for critical services continues to rise during this pandemic, our community needs your support to help families put food on their tables, to help children and seniors feel connected in a time of social distancing and isolation, to support the community organizations that provide crucial services to so many who need them, and to comfort all those who struggle.

Your support for our community’s 2020 Annual Campaign helps make all these things possible—and so much more!

While this year has certainly been one of tremendous challenges, it has also been one of remarkable hope. While many of us have been kept apart physically and socially, our community nevertheless has come together in impressive ways to help one another.

As we look to close the chapter on 2020 and many of the challenges it has brought, we also have a unique matching opportunity to make your gift go even farther.

In response to the millions of Jewish individuals and families around the country who have been impacted by the pandemic and resulting economic crisis, a group of national donors has partnered with Jewish Federations of North America to match eligible gifts. This program is intended to raise more dollars for human services relief efforts in Jewish communities across the country, including right here in Greater Indianapolis.

For increases in annual gifts received through Dec. 31, the amount of the increase will be matched at 50 percent by these national donors. And for new donors or donors who have not contributed in the past 18 months, the full amount of the gift will be matched at 50 percent by these same donors.

Our community is eligible to receive $72,000 in matching funds, but we need to raise at least $144,000 toward this matching fund initiative in order to receive the full amount. Even a small increase in your gift will go a long way toward this effort and will bring more dollars and much-needed funds to help those in our community who need it most.

Thanks to the support of community members like you, the Jewish Federation and its partners were here to respond when the pandemic hit our community, and it is why we will be here for the community long after it passes. Our community’s Annual Campaign delivers vital funding to sustain the Federation and its partners, ensuring critical programs and services are available when needed most.

It is not too late to help and to make a difference for so many. In our local community alone, before the pandemic more than 3,700 individuals—including many children and seniors— needed help with the basic necessities that so many of us take for granted. In the past 9 months, these needs have increased considerably and many more in our community need assistance. They need your help.

In our lifetime, there possibly has never been a greater need for your support than there is right now. While none of us know what the New Year will bring, we know what we want for ourselves and for our community. And we know that your support for our community’s Annual Campaign helps make possible all the things we want for ourselves, our families, our friends, and our community.

To help our community continue to navigate these challenging times, and to help those who need our support now more than ever, please consider supporting our community’s 2020 Annual Campaign. Even if you are not able to give what you’d like, please give what you can—every gift supports those who need our help, and every gift, no matter the size, makes a big difference for so many.

To make a difference in the lives of others who need your help, please contribute to the 2020 Annual Campaign online, by phone at (317) 715-9274, or mail your check to the Jewish Federation at6705 Hoover Road, Indianapolis, IN 46260.
