It's almost Christmas and... I'm excited!!

We're back for part 2

So we missed Happy Hour on Friday... but if your house was anything like my house, it was crazy! This newsletter we have added a bunch of great videos and activities. We also have a music video that I did for Caleb With Curls! We did celebrate Ugly Sweater Day on December 19!

As the world still looks different than before, let me know what kind of things you want me to talk about in these newsletters and on my YouTube channel. Thank you for all the comments, replies, and calls letting me know what you like... keep them coming!

Dear Friends and Followers,

This month has been so hectic. We tried to schedule a happy hour and failed. We were all set to go to Legoland, Sea World and the San Diego Zoo and share about their holiday celebrations, but they were all cancelled. It’s been tough. In fact, the newsletter includes a blog article about adjusting our celebrations and observances during the holiday season and finding joy in spite of our current circumstances.

I found joy in working with Caleb to prepare this newsletter, when I realized just how seriously he takes his role as a champion of public health. In this newsletter, we have included many holiday themed articles and activities. One video in particular is of a tried and true holiday favorite poem, “The Night Before Christmas.” Grammy picked out the video from YouTube, and after the newsletter was compiled, Caleb, in reviewing all the material told us to stop the presses. We could not use the cartoon of “The Night Before Christmas.” When we asked why, he quietly informed us that Santa was smoking in the video and that would be inappropriate. He instructed us to use a Grinch video instead.

I’ve never been prouder. We all grew up with books, videos and movies showing Santa smoking a pipe and thought nothing of it. “Out of the mouths of babes,” wisdom abounds. We wish you a safe, healthy and happy holiday with your own babes! See you in 2021!!

WHAT IS CHRISTMAS ALL ABOUT?

Christmas is the date set aside for the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Christians celebrate it on December 25th all over the world. Jesus was not born on December 25th exactly, but this date was chosen.

Jesus was born nearly 2000 years ago. To Christians, Jesus is the Son of God and the Savior/Saviour of the world. Christians believe that He came to die for our sins so that we may go to heaven. 

WHAT DOES THE WORD "CHRISTMAS" MEAN?

The word Christmas actually comes from "Mass of Christ". It was however shortened to "Christ Mass". Sometimes the shorter version "Xmas" is also used.

WHAT ARE OTHER CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS?

Christmas is also a time where homes and malls are decorated with all kinds of decorations. Most of the decorations are symbols of Christmas.
