Dear Friends and Fellow Republicans

Let's be honest, this has been one rough year for all of us.  For me personally, it has been the worst year of my professional and adult life - certainly the worst since I graduated HS back in 1982.  Each of us is suffering in our own way.  I try to count my blessings - and all that one can see is suffering across the world and across our Republic.

However there are blessings that we must remember.  While each of us is (because of COVID and what the Communist party is trying to do to us) going through our own personal trial, there is still the American spirit which has gotten us through rougher times than this.  One of the roughest times in our Nation's history was in 1776, after the Continental Army suffered defeat after defeat - and then on Christmas Day 1776, in one of the greatest Christmas presents ever delivered by a ragtag army to a needy nation, defeated the British in the battle of Trenton on Christmas Day 1776.

And of course - slightly over 2000 years ago, God gave to us the greatest Christmas present ever given, in the form of our Savior - who came to bear the burden and price for our sins.  Please take 3 minutes and watch this video from the 1977 Miniseries, Jesus of Nazareth.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nv0LG8hr39U

Our nation's history needs us at this point in time.  Now is not a time to pack our bags and feel sorry for ourselves.  We tend to think of Christmas too often as a holiday where we try and give the biggest gifts we can find to our friends or loved ones.  However sometimes the best gift of all is not wrapped up in the biggest present, but in the biggest sacrifice.  Please make the time to get involved - your children and your children's children will thank you for this in the years to come.  In the John Adams miniseries, there is a point where - as John Adams is leaving his family, one of his children is upset because their father is leaving.  And the child feels as though Adams does not love him.  John Adams says back to his son:  "I do this because I love you"

Do yourself and future generations a favor this Christmas season.  Hug your loved ones.  Enjoy your Christmas.   And then after Christmas Day is over, get involved.  There are 2 special elections in Virginia.  One in the 2nd House District and another in the 90th House District (both HoD races).  For more information go to the RPV website - https://virginia.gop/  Make phone calls, write a letter to the editor, get in your car and drive to either Stafford or Norfolk and hit a few doors.  Election Day is Tuesday January 5.  Me personally, I'm planning to go to Georgia to knock doors for Team GOP on New Years Weekend for a couple of days.

Your kids will never forget what you will have given to them, if we can keep our Republic.

Before I forget, Christmas became an official holiday in the late 1860's.  After the Civil War, and all the bitterness between both Union and Confederacy, President Grant saw that the nation needed something to unify around.  He thus directed Congress to proclaim Christmas as an official holiday - and on June 26 1870, Christmas became an official US holiday.  There is now a movement among the radical left to stop mentioning the word "Christmas".  But by law, the holiday is "Christmas".

So - in keeping with the spirit of 1870, 1776, the birth day of our Lord and Savior, and in the spirit of Liberty, I wish each of you a Merry Christmas, and may 2021 be a better year for all of us.

Thanks from the bottom of my heart to each of you for all the hard work you are doing, and are going to do.  It is only with your help that we will take back Virginia!

I remain your servant

S John Massoud
