December e-Newsletter

Our services have changed

Whilst the London Borough of Haringey is in Tier 4, Homes for Haringey will be taking all reasonable measures to safeguard our residents and staff. To support this, we will be providing a reduced repairs service in residents' homes by restricting works to emergency and urgent repairs only. We will not be undertaking routine repairs, this will include some follow-on repairs such as plastering and decorating until the guidance changes.

Any routine repairs reported will be recorded for us to attend to in the new year when safety allows.

All communal internal and external works will continue as normal.
More information about how our services have been affected can be found here.

Helping rough-sleepers

If you are concerned about someone over the age of 18 that you have seen sleeping rough in England or Wales, you can use this website to send an alert to StreetLink.

The details you provide are sent to the local authority or outreach service for the area in which you have seen the person, to help them find the individual and connect them to support. It is important to note that if you think the person you are concerned about is under 18 please do not contact StreetLink but instead call the police.
You can tell StreetLink on 0300 500 0914 or follow this link.

StreetLink exists to help end rough sleeping by enabling members of the public to connect people sleeping rough with the local services that can support them.

Winter Readiness Programme

The Winter Readiness Programme is continuing over the winter. We are contacting vulnerable residents to be sure that they are ready for the winter and have everything they need.
The residents we have spoken to have been appreciative of the service.
We know that many of our residents do not have anyone nearby and family may be further away or abroad.
If you worried about someone, please email:
Susan.Wright@homesforharingey.org or shade.simmons@homesforharingey.org

Easy ways to recycle Christmas trees

This year, once Christmas is over, we have made it easy for residents to recycle a Christmas tree in Haringey. We will use bark shavings in parks, gardens and green areas across the borough.

Green bin collection

If you live in a kerbside property, cut your tree into smaller pieces (maximum length 1 metre or 3 feet) and put it out for collection.

The Reuse and Recycling Centre on Western Road in Wood Green

Christmas trees can also be taken to Haringey's Reuse and Recycling Centre in Wood Green - Western Road, N22 6UG Opening times: Monday to Sunday, 8.30am to 4pm (Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.)

Local parks

You can take trees to designated sites in certain parks:

  • Albert Recreation Ground, Albert Road, N22
  • Bruce Castle Park, Lordship Lane, N17
  • Downhills Park, Downhills Park Road, N17
  • Down Lane Park, Park View Road, N17
