KAMG eNews

News & events from Kent Advanced Motorcyclists Group
As we all wished each other a Happy New Year last December, who could have imagined what lay ahead of us as we dreamed of new bikes, planned tours and looked to continue to develop our riding skills and group camaraderie in 2020?

Then Covid happened and nothing has been the same since.

It may seem glib to wish everyone a 'Happy Christmas' in these times, when some will be worrying about sick family or friends, while restrictions on socialising will mean that many won't be able to see family over the festive period. Loneliness, mental and physical health issues can affect any of us, and we know good friends in KAMG who have gone through, or who are going through, some very tough times. But adversity brings out the best in communities and it comes as no surprise that KAMG members have shown themselves to be a very supportive bunch in many instances this year.

And despite new Covid rules and restrictions announced every few days, there is a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel -  vaccines are on their way, the days are getting longer once again, KAMG training and rides are poised to resume (conditions permitting) - and KAMG tours tentatively planned for 2021 (see below).

Please, stay safe, follow the spirit of the guidelines on essential travel and I'm sure we all look forward to when we can get out together freely on two wheels once again in 2021.

So, merry Christmas and a very happy and healthy New Year one and all!

KAMG on tour

Optimistic that the Covid situation will at last begin to improve in 2021, Steve Riches has been planning some rides for the coming year:

MAY: 2,000 mile trip over 8 days (7 nights), including the Scottish NC500.
JUNE: Another 8 day trip, 1,900 miles taking in the West Coast of Scotland.
JULY: 3 days (2 nights) gentle tour around Rutland.
JULY: 4 days (3 nights) ride around the North Yorkshire Moors and the Dales.
AUGUST: 8 days (7 nights) in Scotland (Oban) - details TBC.
OCTOBER: 2 days (1 night) Norfolk and Suffolk ride.

If interested, please check further details on Tracker here.

With apologies...

It's difficult to socialise at the moment, and some may not have anyone to pull a cracker with. So here are a few traditionally awful Christmas cracker jokes...

Why are Santa's reindeer allowed to travel on Christmas Eve?
They have herd immunity.

What is Dominic Cummings' favourite Christmas song?
Driving Home for Christmas.

Why was production down at Santa's workshop?
Many of his workers have had to elf-isolate.

Which Christmas film was 30 years ahead of its time?
Home Alone.

Why do pirates have to go into lockdown?
Because the "Arrrr!" rate has risen.

How will Brexit affect next Christmas?
There’ll be no Brussels.

Who dresses in red and gives to the children this Christmas?
Marcus Rashford.

Why won't Santa lose any presents this year?
He's downloaded the Sack and Trace app.
