ART

Create window magic with your toddler with this entertaining and simple project.
  1. Peel contact paper open and lay flat on a surface, sticky side up.
  2. Allow your toddler to place pieces of tissue paper on the sticky surface. Talk about the color and texture while you do so.
  3. After the collage is complete, carefully seal the contact paper edges together.
  4.  Hang as is in your window or use cookie cutters or shape sorter pieces to trace and cut shapes to hang in the window. Try to hang the pieces lower so your toddler can see their creation in their line of sight.
SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL

The pandemic has taken the ordinary stressors of parenthood to new levels: will my child develop social-emotional skills with peers over zoom? Will his or her learning fall behind? Below, we will be featuring resources to help you engage your child with learning concepts and support their emotional health within daily routines.

vroom.org is a website and app that provides ways you can support your child’s brain development within your daily routines. Vroom provides information about what a child is learning when he/she helps you sort socks, throw away the trash, or sings with you in the bathtub. You might find you have been doing a lot more to boost your child's brain cells than you think! There are no irritating pop-ups or random surveys to complete in order to continue exploring the site. The contributors of Vroom include well-known neuroscientists that specialize in early child development, including Dr. Alison Gopnik, Dr. Pat Kuhl, Dr. Andy Meltzoff, and Dr. Adele Diamond.
PS. As we face this pandemic, philanthropic support is more crucial than ever! Gifts of all amounts will make a significant impact. Please consider making a gift today to help meet the most urgent needs of our Boyer community.
