In our prayers...

Prayers for the members of Claremont UMC

"Hear my prayer, O Lord; give ear to my supplications in your faithfulness; answer me in your righteousness." ~ Psalm 143:1

Dear Friends,
Let us join in prayer together for one another.

We continue to hold JoAnn Brewer, Melanie and Dave Little and all of their family in prayer as they grieve the death of Leslie Brewer, and as they prepare for his memorial service, which is on Saturday, January 23 at 11:00 a.m. via Zoom. We pray that all who love and miss Les would know and feel God's loving and comforting presence in their grief.

We continue to hold the Campo-Poe Family in prayer as they grieve the death of Jackie's cousin's son. We pray that they know and feel God's loving, strengthening, and comforting presence in their pain and grief.

We hold the United States, its people, and its democracy in our prayers. We pray for President-Elect Joe Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris and the peaceful transition of power on January 20. We pray for healing in this country, for racial justice, for our cherished freedoms, for safety for ALL, and especially, we pray for peace.

As we remember and lift up the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we pray for ALL who suffer from oppression, and violence due to racist systems and beliefs at work in the world, that God would show up and bring about righteousness and justice. We know that God is working for Good in this world, that God is working for the liberation of all who are discriminated against and oppressed. Just as Jesus promised the Holy Spirit to his disciples, we know that the Holy Spirit remains with all of us as well, and may we all work with the Holy Spirit to eradicate and dismantle racism.

May we all feel God's peace, which surpasses all understanding. May we all find ways to put our full trust in God. And may we feel the love we send to one another.

We pray for the children and parents who have been ruthlessly separated at our borders. May God guide us to make this right, to reunite the children with their parents and families. May God protect and be with these dear ones in the dire conditions they face.

We continue to hold in our prayers all who are sick with Covid-19, all who have loved ones who are sick, all who care for those with the Coronavirus, and all who have lost loved ones to this horrible virus. We pray for God's healing, God's comfort, God's strength to be with all in these hard times.

As we feel and face all of the darkness, may we remember, and look to the Light that shines in the darkness, and remember the darkness does NOT overcome it! Remember to look for those who reflect this true Light in the world today.

If you know of anyone in the CUMC family who should be lifted up in prayer and included in a future prayer email, please contact the church office via email, prayers@claremontumc.org.  Please be sure to have their permission to be included on the prayer list and in the prayer email.

We pray for God's loving and healing touch to be upon all who are on our hearts and minds.  We ask for God's blessing to be upon each one, upon each of you reading, and upon all of our loved ones.

Epiphany Blessings,
Jessica Johnston
