January 2021 News

Congrats on surviving 2020! Here's to better days ahead.
Black Lives Matter
We're disgusted this is even in question. If you are too, take a spin to a black-owned business. Here's a great list from Visit Phoenix. Tell them Phoenix Spokes People sent you!
Canalscape Public Meeting
City of Phoenix Street Transportation Department will hold a January 19, 6 p.m. public meeting to introduce the Western Canalscape Improvement Project, from 4th Avenue to 24th Street near South Mountain. See more, including a video ride along the canal showing the "before" condition, on the project website.
Third Avenue North Meeting
The City of Phoenix Street Transportation Department wants your input on proposed striping changes on Third Avenue from Osborn to Indian School Roads at a virtual public meeting January 21 at 5:30 p.m.
Third and Fifth Avenues Meeting
No, we didn't stutter. There's another meeting about Third (and Fifth) Avenues February 24 at 6 p.m. This segment is in the Willo neighborhood, between McDowell and Thomas Roads.
Shared Streets Update
Phoenix Street Transportation received over 70 applications for the Shared Streets for Social Distancing pilot program, whose goal is creating space for outdoor activity while complying with social distancing guidelines. That's a good number, considering they launched in the midst of the holidays with a VERY short deadline. We'll keep you posted.
Cargo Bikes FTW!
Anybody need a shot of hope? Valley Metro is hosting a FREE screening of the 90-minute film MOTHERLOAD, about how cargo bikes can save the world. Get a link to watch the film anytime within two days before the February 24, 10 a.m. webinar. Webinar features a live Q & A with the film’s director and local cargo bike users.
Share The Road Plates Available
You can now order your Arizona Share The Road license plate. $17 of the $25 fee goes to the Rob Dollar Foundation and Uphill Into The Wind to promote road safety and awareness for cyclists and runners.
Country Club Way
East side riders are excited about the Country Club Way project in Tempe. There are two public meetings coming up in February.
