Welcome to February!
What a newsletter in store for you!! Packed with new ideas, pictures and tips!
With so much new stuff to share, I've made a quick switch around as well. I've adjusted the latest and greatest to reflect new things going on in the business and created a section called session highlights to cover pictures from recent sessions!! Also, if you're viewing this newsletter online, you can use the links from this intro section to go straight to the area you are interested in!

The latest and greatest this month outlines the mini sessions available for February!...check these out if you are thinking of quick family, graduation or engagement photos. They are all at great locations, affordable, hassle free and of course fun!
I have also have highlighted a few prints that are for sale at the Print Store including a valentines one...perfect for an alternative present for the valentine in your life and also great for girlies...who struggle to find something for the man in their life who doesn't want flowers ;-). The other highlighted prints this month come with a little story about when I captured the photograph...you don't want to miss them!
The business spotlight this month is from a recent session with a wonderful mortgage company. See some of their business images as well as some family ones we managed to sneak into the session!
The session highlights portrays a few images from a collaborative photography event in 2020 for high school seniors. I feel like spring is a great time to capture students as they graduate from high school. Spring is all about growth and changes and I feel is very synonymous with graduating students! Of course at age 17/18 who isn't photogenic!! They are all just gorgeous...check out some of the highlights below :-)
For the photographer in you brings couple of informal stories from my recent shooting experience and my own camera fun is from...wait for it...on the water, where else!
The panoramic passion is also from an early morning paddle and check out the quote for a bit of new dawn inspiration!

Latest and Greatest -
Mini Sessions, Print Sales Launch ...including a Print Dedicated to Valentine's Day!
Announcing 2021 mini sessions...all year round! There are two mini sessions available for February! These are great for families looking to capture some photographs locally as well as high school seniors looking for a quick few photographs, hassle free and in spectacular locations!
• Crow Canyon gardens in San Ramon is spectacular in spring with apple blossom on many of the trees and other early blooming flowers.
• California gold fields (mustard) is a wonderful expeiernce and beautiful to capture photographs in. The location for these varies depending upon the quality and readiness of the flowers and will be available nearer the time. Link here to see details on the website.
The February print store highlight is a valentines print from a trip in 2020 to San Diego (February in 2020)! This print is perfect for the alternative valentines gift! It is the one featured at the beginning of this email and is available for purchase on this link. The picture can even be customized to include your initials in the middle sand heart!! So cute!

Seal Sardines
Anyone for another game of 'sardines'?
Año Nuevo State Park is a fantastic day out for all the family! It's great to be walking around in the fresh air on a bluster, cool afternoon, searching for seals as they wallow in a washed up fashion on the deserted beaches. Imagine our surprise when we came across a collection all huddled up like in a game of sardines!! Of course it stands to reason...lets share body warmth, but it was truly unexpected and is one of my all time favorite photographs of local wildlife. This one is edited in black and white and available at the print store in a variety of sizes!
I am also open for assignments to capture your ideas for prints!!

The Trek to Mavericks
Mavericks waves at Pillar Point have been quite sensational recently and I visited the area a few weeks ago! I don't believe I realized that the distance between the beach and the break is huge!! Making it quite the journey for the surfers, even before they catch a wave. For the lucky ones, a jet-ski arrives and tows them out to the surf, but for some it's just a swim and a slog. Of course nobody can complain about the conditions...blue skies, serious surf and no wind!!

Another one of my favorites from the Bay Area...sunset colors with the Golden Gate Bridge. A single sailing boat to just complete the composition! Don't you just want to be there! I know I do.

My father was a successful entrepreneur and I wanted to follow in his footsteps. I worked in real estate finance underwriting for a subsidiary of Bear Stearns for approx. 10 years. I was a top producer at high grossing mortgage companies however I left to start my own company because I wanted to be able to offer my clients better rates and better customer service.
Our dedication to our clients is paramount. We leave no stone unturned to accomplish what our clients need from us. We know that without the trust and confidence our clients have in us we would not be where we are today. Fun Fact: Everyday I get the opportunity to met a new client and every client is different. They all have their own set of unique challenges and problems that gives me the chance to push my knowledge in the industry to accomplish their goals that they are entrusting me to achieve for them.

The end of senior year should be all about celebrating achievements! Graduating from high school and giving yourself and other a huge pat on the back...you did it and you all did it together! 2020 certainly made it difficult to do that and 2021 will be limited but hopefully, better! We can help you celebrate! A photo session makes everyone feel special and if it’s dedicated to you and your friends individually, imagine the fun you could have!

During photography sessions, we are very careful and always have your safety in mind. All photography is carried out wearing a mask for your safety and we always try to be six feet away (long lens). Sessions are only conducted outdoors at the moment!

Not something I do a lot, but I know it is sometimes an irresistible thing to do when taking pictures. Chimping is when you take a picture and then you show the subject the back of the screen, During Covid times chimping is probably at a minimum because it involves being close to the client and even having them touch the camera. For photographers and family members taking photos, I believe there are lots of other reasons to avoid spending too much time chimping. While subjects can reassured and excited to see their images, It can also break the flow of the session, stopping the momentum and rapport in its tracks to do something which is not necessary.
I figure I know quite a bit of on my camera on the settings and what is capable of, but I am always enthusiastic and excited to learn new things. I’ve been using my Nikon D750 for landscape and other outdoor photography recently and switched to the Z6. Usually I use the Z6 all the time for clients and portraits and use my long lens and it does a beautiful job. One of the huge benefits of the Z6 mirrorless camera is that when you look through the viewfinder, you see the exposure you will get in the image. This makes choosing the settings very quick and visual and you aren't relying on a scale. This works just fine until you have a very small aperture such as F 16...I guess it just isn't that sensitive...back to using the scale in the viewfinder.
