Terwijl het nieuwe jaar weer is begonnen en de lockdown wordt verlengd kijken we toch vooruit naar wat hopelijk een beter jaar wordt. Hoewel we recentelijk beelden hebben gezien van de Verenigde Staten, die de meesten van ons niet hadden verwacht te zullen zien, en er nog veel onduidelijkheid heerst rondom de Coronapandemie zijn we als politicologen in Nederland ons meer dan ook aan het voorbereiden op een spannend jaar. De tweede helft van het academisch jaar gaat in de meeste gevallen spoedig van start en De Tweede Kamerverkiezingen staan voor de deur.
Politicologenetmaal 2021
In onze vorige nieuwsbrief vermeldden we al dat het virtuele Politicologenetmaal 2021 op 3-4 juni zal plaatsvinden. De deadline voor de ‘call for workshops’ is zojuist met een week verlengd, om iedereen een kans te geven om een voorstel in te dienen. Het Etmaal wordt wederom georganiseerd door Maurits Meijers and Andrej Zaslove van de Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen die zich hard inzetten om een mooi programma neer te zetten. In de afgelopen twee maanden hebben de conferentie-organisatoren en de besturen van de NKWP en de Vlaamse collega’s al wat stappen gezet om het Etmaal interessant te maken. We drukken iedereen op het hart om of zelf een voorstel in te dienen, of om een collega daartoe aan te zetten. Het is wellicht nu, meer dan meestal, erg belangrijk dat we de gelegenheden geven aan elkaar, vooral onze junioren, om hun werk te kunnen presenteren en hun netwerk uit te breiden. De details zijn hier te vinden https://politicologenetmaal.eu (deadline voor panels is 22 januari 2021; de call for papers is open van 1 februari tot en met 31 maart 2021). De Algemene Ledenvergadering 2021 zal plaatsvinden voorafgaand aan de start (in de ochtend) van 3 juni. De kosten om te presenteren op het Etmaal is gratis voor leden. Diegenen die hun lidmaatschap nog niet hebben vernieuwd in 2020, willen we vragen om te overwegen om bij de hernieuwing van uw lidmaatschap voor 2021 ook te kiezen om alsnog voor 2020 te betalen, mocht u dat nog niet hebben gedaan. Bij vragen omtrent lidmaatschap kunt u terecht bij secretaris@politicologie.nl. Zoals altijd kan de contributie kan betaald worden op NL80 TRIO 0212438395 t.n.v. Enquête leden
Zoals in eerder nieuwsbrieven is aangegeven hebben we een korte enquête naar de leden verstuurd. We willen degenen die deze nog niet hebben ingevuld nogmaals in de gelegenheid stellen om deze in te vullen. We komen terug met de resultaten in een volgende nieuwsbrief.

Dear NKWP member:
With the year 2021 off to a rough start, with the lockdown extended, we are looking ahead to what will hopefully be a better year. While we have recently seen images of the United States, that most of us did not expect to see, as political scientists in the Netherlands, we are preparing for an exciting year. In most cases, the second half of the academic year starts soon and the national parliamentary elections are just around the corner. Regarding the corona pandemic, as Dutch political scientists we are preparing for any eventuality, witness the fact that our Political Science conference (“Politicologenetmaal”) will take place online in June this year.
Politicologenetmaal 2021
In our previous newsletter we already mentioned that the Politicologenetmaal virtual conference 2021 will take place on June 3-4. The deadline for the "call for workshops" has just been extended by one week to give everyone a chance to submit a proposal. In the past two months, the conference organizers and the boards of the NKWP and the Flemish political science association VPW, have already taken some steps to make the Etmaal interesting. The Etmaal is once again organized by Maurits Meijers and Andrej Zaslove from Radboud University Nijmegen, who are committed to creating a great program. We urge everyone to either submit their own proposal or to encourage a colleague to do so. Now, more than is usually the case, it is very important that we generate opportunities, especially for our junior colleagues, to present their work and expand their networks. The 2021 Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place prior to the start of the Etmaal, that is in the morning of June 3rd. Presenting at the Etmaal will be free for members. For those who have not yet renewed their membership in 2020, we ask that you consider also choosing to pay for 2020 when you renew your membership for 2021, if you have not already done so. Member survey
As stated in previous newsletters, we sent out a short survey to members in the autumn. Although we received a reasonable number of responses, we would like to give those who have not yet completed it a last opportunity to participate. We will provide you a brief report on the results in a future newsletter.
