Dear <<First Name>>

We are pleased to announce that work on the replacement of Rosemead Park playground was completed just before Christmas, see story in this email, and the new facility has been well received.

Unfortunately, with the rise of Covid-19 cases the Government had to put the country in another lockdown which is not the way we all wanted to start the year but with a number of vaccines now available it is hoped that we will turn a corner soon. If you are looking for information about support organisations please visit our website.

There has been cases reported of vaccine scams, the NHS will contact you when it is your turn to have the vaccine and the service is completely free. Read all about the Covid-19 vaccination programme on the NHS website.

The Town Council is following Government guidance and all staff are currently working remotely, this means our reception area and Museum had to close temporarily. However, you can still contact us via email or call and leave a message on 01903 732063. Littlehampton Museum has a wide range of online resources for you to enjoy so head over to the Museum's website to see what's on offer.

The Love Local Prize Draw came to an end in December with two lucky winners receiving a total of £750. Millie Harman of Arundel won £500 and Rosemary Kearsey of Littlehampton won £250. Congratulations to the winners and a huge thank you to the businesses that participated.

The Government’s national free school meals voucher scheme will relaunch next Monday and be run by original supplier Edenred - visit their website for details. Those families with children who are not entitled to free school meals but who are experiencing financial hardship are encouraged to contact the Community Hub in confidence to seek practical support and advice. The Hub is open seven days a week between 8am-8pm on 033 022 27980.

Inclusive Playground at Rosemead

On Saturday 18 December, Town Mayor Councillor David Chace was joined by Lloyd Parvin-Blackstone to officially open the new playground at the Park. A project delivered by Littlehampton Town Council and constructed by Sutcliffe Play, the new playground is based on the outcomes from public consultation and designed for children up to the age of 14 years and includes specific features to ensure that all children can fulfil their play needs irrespective of their perceived ability.

When the Town Council launched its public engagement in 2019, 10-year-old Lloyd, who has autism, wrote to the Council expressing his desire for a playground where everyone could play with a slide, a swing and sensory thing that everyone could use, even in a wheelchair. Lloyd added: “I think parks should be for everyone, the disabled and abled. We like playing together.”

Speaking about the project, Chair of the Community Resources Committee, Councillor Billy Blanchard-Cooper said: “I am absolutely thrilled with the playground especially how Sutcliffe Play has managed to create a fun, safe and inclusive space for children of all ages and abilities. This new facility will bring much life to Rosemead Park and provide hours of fun for children and families. After the year we have had, it is nice to end it with something so positive for the whole community.”
