The Vaccine!

The bulletin this week is focusing on the COVID vaccine - Information, misinformation and vaccine hesitancy

We have created a range of resources and pages to support the provision of accurate and factual information about the vaccine….

  1. We have created a useful FAQ guide which can be shared with your contacts – available by clicking here
  2. We have created a new landing page on our website dedicated to the vaccine and answering some of the key questions – www.publichealthslough.co.uk/campaigns/covidvaccine
  3. We have created a new page on our website dedicated to dispelling myths with a checklist of what people should do before sharing content online – www.publichealthslough.co.uk/campaigns/share
  4. We’ve put a range of social media graphics for you to use into the champions resource folder – www.oneslough.org.uk/resources

If you’re interested in further research on addressing COVID vaccine hesitancy then evidence suggests that:

  • 76% of the public will have a vaccine if offered (79% White and 57% BAME) – Significant difference and challenges within different ethnic groups. (One possible reason was lower trust)
  • Significant difference in suggested uptake between socio-economic groups too – 84% for groups AB (Professional and managerial) down to 70% for groups DE (routine manual workers)
  • Respondents from BAME backgrounds who were unsure or did not want the vaccine indicated they were especially receptive to further information about the vaccine from their GP or another health professional.

Residents must….

  • Believe there is a personal risk to health of COVID-19
  • Understand that the vaccine is safe and effective
  • Access to vaccination is easy as possible
  • Be motivated e.g. to protect themselves, others, the economy, the NHS
  • Have gaps in knowledge identified and addressed , including dealing with disinformation
  • Receive information across a range of channels

We hope you’ll help us share the key facts on the COVID vaccine and feel comfortable dispelling myths and having a conversation with your contacts about the vaccine.

The next champions zoom meeting will be on the 21st of January at 10am and 6pm. Further details will follow in due course.

Thanks everyone and please stay safe.
