Green agenda for town council in next financial year
Waltham Abbey Town Council has voted to make no increase to its share of council tax bills for the next financial year.
The council has agreed a precept of £855,395 for 2021-22.
Town Mayor councillor Antony Watts said: "We have agreed to fund the reduction in the tax base from reserves this year and there will be no increase whatsoever in the band D equivalent.
"We all understand how difficult it will be next year. We have been prudent in previous years so that we can do this."
He added: "We have got quite a few exciting projects coming forward in relation to our green policy and we want to press on with our aim to become a carbon neutral council.
"We aim to bring on stream as many of our green initiatives as we can in the next financial year.
"Not only is it good for the environment but it will be good for the budget in future years."
Councillor Watts thanked Town Clerk Jodie Law and Deputy Town Clerk Liz Cody for their work on the budget.
