The weekly newsletter from GPS Training

Welcome to this week's newsletter from GPS Training.

The picture above was taken last week, looking over the Simonside Hills, which are above the valley GPS Training is based in.

Let's see what is going on in the world of outdoor GPS navigation

Get to grips with your unit
During lockdown

Lockdown in the UK means you have a great opportunity to get to grips with your GPS unit.

You don't have to go for a long walk in the hills to get to grips with your Outdoor GPS Unit.

Plan your short local walk on Garmin BaseCamp (for Garmin users) or on Xpedition2 (for SatMap users) and then get your GPS to navigate you around it.

This could just be a local walk around where you live.

Then once you have been for your short local walk, plug your GPS unit back into your PC/ Mac and look at the 'track', the record of your walk you have just walked.

Practice makes perfect.

Do this every day and you will soon get to grips with the process and also think about both the mental and physical benefits of doing this every day!

The overview of what I am proposing can be seen here.

Then the online resource takes you through what you need to do in a step by step manner. The online resource can be found here.
Send us a photo

When you are out on your daily training walk send us a selfie or alternatively a picture of your GPS unit navigating you around your walk.

Just email your picture to office@gpstraining.co.uk

Listen to our podcast
As you plan your walks

When you are sat in front computer planning your routes on your PC/ Mac listen to the GPS Training Podcast through the speakers on your computer.

Every episode is about one hour in length and you can listen and with 48 episodes to listen to, that's over 48 hours of GPS chat to listen to.

They are packed full of top tips to help you get to grips with your GPS unit and lots of general GPS chat, so what better company when you are planning your daily walk on your PC/ Mac.

Then by the end of lockdown 3, you will be a GPS wizard.

I think this year has taught us one thing.

We can sit around whilst things and other people outside our control drive the news and our opinions about things we frankly can not control.

Alternatively, we can use this time to our benefit, learn to use your GPS unit properly and go out for those daily walks, and engross yourself with the GPS Podcast as you do it.

You can listen to the GPS Training podcast online here.
