Welcome Poligon's new team members!

Sinthia Shabnam is the new Legislative Fellow for Poligon. Sinthia prepares weekly legislative updates, and sends out Hill Happenings highlighting important legislation and issues of interest from Capitol Hill. She also prepares educational guides on Congressional advocacy, policy briefs, and action alerts in addition to engaging in weekly coalition meetings and policy and advocacy events. Sinthia has worked for the NC Supreme Court Chief Justice, the NC General Assembly, MPower Change, Muslim Women For, and Real Facts NC this past year serving in multiple fellowships in community organizing and policy research, mobilizing Muslim Americans and promoting civic engagement. ​Advocating for restorative justice, Sinthia is passionate about policy education and youth development within the Muslim community, especially empowering young Muslim girls. In her free time, she enjoys taking fitness classes, acrylics painting, and writing social justice themed poetry and public speaking. Sinthia double-majored and received her B.A. in Political Science with a Concentration in Public Policy and Sociology from North Carolina State University.


Kulsoom Tapal is the current  Social Media and Marketing Intern for Poligon. Kulsoom manages and monitors Poligon's social media, assists with our press releases, and creates graphic content to promote Poligon's events and announcements. Kulsoom is currently a Senior at Indiana University pursuing a dual degree in Informatics (B.S) and Law and Public Policy (BSPA). This past year, Kulsoom has assisted with a Congressional campaign, served as a Legislative Intern for the U.S. House of Representatives, worked at the Community Justice and Mediation Center (Bloomington, IN), and led Get Out the Vote efforts with the National Asian Pacific American Women's Forum and Women4Change. She has experience in policy research, community organizing, fundraising, and event planning. She is passionate about intersectional efforts that move us towards collective liberation. In her free time, she loves to read, write, and watch comedy specials.
