Upon following the Education Bureau's recommendation, KIA staff will not be able to travel outside of Kunming until further notice; this includes during the Chinese New Year Holiday. We are also issuing a strong recommendation that students do not travel outside of Kunming as well. There are areas outside of the city that belong to Kunming but are not OK to visit. If you are considering traveling to any of these locations, please email the school in advance to see if the area is approved.
根据教育局的建议，在另行通知之前，KIA的教职员工将不可在昆明以外的地方旅行；包括春节假期。 我们强烈的建议，学生们不要在昆明以外的地区旅行。有些地区隶属于昆明，但不能去旅游。 如果您正在考虑前往这些地区的其中一个地点，请提前发电子邮件给学校，查询该地区/地点是否为受批准可前往的地区。
KIA will use two codes to assess the safety of returning to campus after the holiday. We will use the Green Code and the Telecom Journey Code, which tracks all movements within a prescribed time. If you do not follow the school's strong recommendation of no travel outside of Kunming and must quarantine before coming back to campus, the absences will be unexcused. (The quarantine could be 14 days and require two COVID-19 Nuclear Acid Test.) There will be serious consequences for false reporting.

Because of the need to support the good prevention work that the government has prescribed, all KIA staff and students will continue to wear masks. We will reevaluate this policy two weeks after the return to classes following the Chinese New Year Break.

Dear Parents of 3rd - 5th grade Parents and Students,

It is the time of year again to test our students using the MAP (Measure of Academic Progress). This test occurs in the Fall, Winter, and then the Spring. The purpose of the MAP Winter Assessment is to check to see if students are progressing in their learning throughout the year and celebrate student growth in each of the core Math, Reading, and Language Arts subjects. In the chart below, I have listed the target score for each subject and grade level. The goal is for students to score the same or higher than each of their grade level targets.
又到了一年中使用MAP（学业进展测评）来测试学生的时候了。这项测试通常在秋冬，及次年春季进行。MAP冬季测评的目的是检查学生是否在全年的学习中取得进步，并肯定学生在各门核心课程：数学、阅读和语言艺术科目中的进步。在下列表格中，我列出了每个科目所对应的年级和目标分数。目的是让学生的分数达到或高于他们每个年级的目标。

Please ensure that your child has enough sleep each night, has eaten a healthy breakfast, and comes to school on time for the test. We thank you for your extra support during this MAP test, and we look forward to sharing how your child has grown in his/her knowledge over this last semester.
