CVM BIG Takeaway

Recovery Course - Starting Tuesday 9 March 2021

This new online course runs for 15 weeks and is led by course leaders Nat Moody and Emma Heath, and a team of experienced leaders who have their own recovery stories.

Each evening session includes a short teaching video and testimony, and quality time in single-sex groups to explore the 12 steps and gain knowledge and skills about addiction and how to beat it.  Join the course and find hope, friendship, community and a place of support and encouragement to overcome addiction.

The Recovery Course follows the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, but as they were originally intended.  A set of spiritual steps where we put Christ back at the heart of recovery.  The course recognises our destructive habits are a consequence of pain, hurt, broken relationships, loneliness or an issue from childhood.  The recovery course is all about becoming free of addiction, compulsive behaviours and secret habits.

The online recovery course is open to anyone struggling with any sort of addiction or compulsive behaviour, including drugs, alcohol, gambling, food, pornography, sex, and self-harming. You can be in solid recovery, new to recovery or still working towards recovery.

To book your place, please visit - https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-national-online-recovery-course-tickets-131464298255

The Bible Course Online from 18 January - 1 March 2021

Thinking particularly of people who would love to do The Bible Course but don’t have a group to do it with, Bible Society are hosting a special opportunity to experience the course. (It would also be a good way of ‘tasting’ the course for use in your church.)  Taking place on Monday evenings from 7.30–9.00 pm, you’ll be able to watch the films, chat to others in small groups and enjoy Q&A sessions with course author Andrew Ollerton – all from the comfort of your own home. There are 85 spaces available on a first come, first served basis. Find out more and sign up.

Fairtrade Fortnight

CHOOSE THE WORLD YOU WANT THIS FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT
Fairtrade – fair for people and planet
We are all becoming increasingly aware of climate change and the potential impact that our day to day decisions can have on the world. Have you ever considered how Fairtrade helps both people and the planet?
Fairtrade helps farmers to adapt to climate change by paying a fair price for their products, a fair wage for workers plus a social premium, an extra payment which allows them to invest as they see fit in projects that benefit the whole community. Farmers are also supported to become resilient to the changes in the climate, through technical advice, partner supported programmes and environmentally friendly Fairtrade standards.
The good news is that 2.38  million hectares of farmland are protected by Fairtrade climate change adaptation plans. So this year, choose Fairtrade and help both people and planet.
 FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT 22nd Feb – 7thMarch
We will be hosting a webinar on Fairtrade and climate change  with a speaker from the Fairtrade Foundation. More information   and details for signing up to the webinar will be in  the next   edition of the magazine.
