forWater secures CFI funding to advance drinking water source protection research

The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) recently announced the results of the 2020 Innovation Fund competition. Our proposal titled, “forWater AID: Advanced Infrastructure Development for forested drinking water source protection technologies in Canada”  was awarded $3.5M. If all of the associated provincial funding is approved the total budget for research equipment and infrastructure will be $9.2M.

This infrastructure will help the Network provide global leadership in how society interacts with the natural and built environment to protect public health through the provision of safe drinking water. It will also support the development of engineering solutions for climate change adaptation that are based on trans-disciplinary, pan-Canadian partnerships.

We will be able to better advance the forWater mandate of better understanding the drinking water implications of natural disturbances in forested watersheds. This infrastructure will help us advance collaboratively and promote positive, science-based change and impact for society!

We are happy to share this good news in these unprecedented times and a vote of confidence for the important work we are doing throughout the Network.

Please note: This information is not public, however we are able to share this news within our group.
