The Administrator of the Land Owner Transparency Act (LOTA) has provided additional guidance for Land Owner Transparency Registry (LOTR) filing processes which are outlined below. This information can also be found on landtransparency.ca, along with system help and resources for legal professionals.

Filing a Stand-Alone Transparency Report

Under section 15 of LOTA, existing reporting bodies with an interest in land must file a transparency report by November 30, 2021.

When filing under section 15 of LOTA, please submit a transparency report on its own; a transparency declaration is not required. If a transparency declaration and associated transparency report is erroneously created in myLTSA for an existing reporting body, the transparency report will remain unfiled in the LOTR dashboard unless the proper procedure is followed.

Under section 16 of LOTA, each time a reporting body's interest holder(s) change, the reporting body must file an updated transparency report. Customers will follow the same procedure for a stand-alone transparency report in this circumstance.

Visit landtransparency.ca for step-by-step instructions on filing a stand-alone transparency report.

Associating a Transparency Declaration ID with a Land Title Submission

Customers are advised to pay close attention to ensuring that the correct transparency declaration ID is associated with the intended land title package submission. If an incorrect ID is used, the LOTA Administrator is unable to reverse the action; the only recourse available is to withdraw the land title package and re-file the submission with the correct transparency declaration ID.

If an incorrect transparency declaration ID has been associated with a land title submission that has already been registered, customers should contact lotr@ltsa.ca to advise the LOTA Administrator.
