Good morning you lovely bunch, and happy Sunday!

Well, well, well- I feel like I’m starting a letter to a friend who I haven’t caught up with since Christmas (probably because that’s exactly the case) and have far too much to catch up with, and now I don’t really know where to begin. But- I’ll start here, I hope you all had as lovely, safe and restful a Christmas as possible. It was definitely a strange one this year, and although we didn’t get to spend it with family- feel very fortunate that we all got to be safe, cosy and connected online- in the hope that soon things will be very different. There were so many things I missed this year, but in the same breath- tried to soak up the little differences we could lean into- daytime baths with Kettle chips at 3pm on Christmas day? Why not! Pyjamas at dinner instead of sequins? Go ahead! Anything went this year, and actually- maybe those tiny things didn’t have to be so bad after all.

Anyway- with January presenting us with Lockdown version 3.0, I am once again hoping you’re all okay out there. It’s a bloody lot, and I’ve tried to make sure this newsletter is packed with lots of loveliness that might help tide over the darkish (but getting lighter!) days- be that songs, recipes, reads or anything in-between. I’ll keep sharing things on Instagram too- even if that is just running commentary of Pooch Perfect or the new Married At First Sight Australia (which I will talk to anyone about at any time of day- so please, do not hesitate to get in touch- I will be here).

As you might have seen, this will be my last little send out until the spring- in order to have a tiny break before and after baby arrives, and settle into motherhood (omg, can I believe I just typed that?) Fortunately, I’m sure there’s a couple of these that you might not have caught up on yet (the only time you may be grateful for my never ending Sunday spam)- and I hope those, along with bloggy bits and Instagram will fill the tiny, tiny hole! I’m seeing it as a little bit of a hibernation over these last few winter months, in hope that spring will bring a new chapter, some sunshine, and hopefully a lot more positivity. Thank you for all baring with me, and all of the lovely support over the last few months, I feel eternally grateful and so, so excited to be sharing such a special time with you all.

Take care of each other,

Liv x

Some of my favourite words of late from Matt Haig...

(Pure endless cosiness from Rosie)
  • One of my favourite accounts and reads comes from Sophie Beresiner and her incredible The Mother Project. I absolutely loved reading about her journey to motherhood, as well as the beautiful and personal shared experiences of others. It's the most beautiful site, and I love following along their beautiful family.
  • Although I'm steering a little away from big goals this New Years, I loved reading this piece by the brilliant Adrienne and dedicating a power hour to yourself each day, in order to start the 'thing' you've always dreamed of, or propelling yourself forward a little. Knowing I'll be out of routine for a while (moreso adapting to a new one), I found it so inspiring to learn a little about how those precious daily 60 minutes can shape any day- and think she's bloody brilliant.
  • These magical photos of Emma Louise Corrin and a lovely little chatter about playing Diana.
  • I could list endless tweets (honestly my likes over there are probably a little bit out of hand), but this video has brought endless lols...

and some of my favourite nice things to get through lockdown...

The unashamed need to recreate this Lisa Eldridge tutorial | I've recently discovered Tessa Kiros so some new delicious recipes of hers may be on the horizon | Rewatch Singin’ in the Rain (and trying to tick off some other classics I've not gotten round to seeing) | Watch Soul again and try not to cry too much | Give myself a proper manicure. Like pay-for worthy. | Finally turn all of those magazine clippings into scrapbook pages for inspiration- there's a reason you love coming back to them time and time again.
  • If you're after some new (and old) listens, my November and December playlists are pretty pretty good (in my opinion), and January is shaping up well too- so being absolutely unbiased, I largely recommend you get stuck in.
  • My absolute numero uno podcast goes to Hey Now! Hey Now! And with extra lockdown movie watching time, now has never been better to re-watch The Parent Trap and then listen to Barney and Emily's incredible commentary post viewing.
  • I've also been busy watching Laura Marling's beautiful videos to go alongside her latest album, and they are every bit as beautiful as you'd imagine them to be.
  • Finally, these podcasts recommended by Fearne Cotton which are packed with some incredible suggestions for some pure positivity- which let's be honest, we could all do with a little of.
A few accounts that have inspired me lately in one way or another- whether that's Siobhan's beautiful Edinburgh home (that I'd quite happily climb into any image of), Africa Brooke's endless wisdom and true moments of nod along, Emmanuelle's beautiful outfits (that have me craving Carel's and bare leg weather) or Arthouse Unlimited for their wonderful cheerful products and uplifting posts, which always add a little sunshine into the everyday.
If there's something I've learnt to be hugely grateful for in recent months, it's the same four walls- and I'm sharing some of the things that make home so special.
With the anniversary of The Insecure Girls' Handbook approaching, I thought I'd share a little post I wrote last year about the process and how it all came about.
One of my favourite posts I do, and despite being a funny old one in 2020, still wanted to put together my '20 lessons for 2020' with a few tiny pearls of wisdom I picked up along the way.
Resharing this cinnamon bun recipe from the Violet Bakery cookbook that I still turn to again and again- lockdown 3.0 let's do this!
