Hi <<First Name>>,
I have not one, but two pieces of exciting news this week.
My book, Your Business Cube, has launched on Amazon.
And I've scheduled a brand new workshop, called Get going on Canva.
Read on for more details on both of these - plus some goal-setting help and an insight from this month’s Business Club book.
In my newsletter this week:
- My weekly progress report on publishing my book
- Get going on Canva
- Look both ways - a new approach to new year goal-setting
- Why giving more makes you more successful

My Weekly Progress Report
Yay! I made it!
Your Business Cube is now available on Amazon.
If you know someone just starting out - or perhaps recently redundant and thinking about self-employment as an option, please tell them about the book. Better still, buy them a copy!
However, the book is just as relevant for more established business owners.
If you’ve been running your business for a while, the book gives you the opportunity to take stock and identify where you need to increase your focus.
Thank you SO MUCH to those of you who have left lovely comments on social media since I announced the book's publication last Friday.
An even bigger thank you to those who have already bought the book. It’s super exciting to see the first orders coming through on my Kindle Direct Publishing dashboard.
I know that some people avoid shopping with Amazon. If this is you, please don’t let that stop you buying! Contact me and I can arrange to send you a book direct from me.

Get going on Canva
You may have spotted mention of this in the workshops section of my newsletter last week.
Get going on Canva is a brand new workshop to show you the basics of using Canva, the graphic design platform for non designers!
I’ve used Canva for ages to create my images here and on social media.
I’m neither a Canva expert nor a designer (far from it!)
However, I've discovered that this is exactly what often appeals to people who attend my workshops.
I keep things simple and concentrate on giving clear instructions and practical tips.
We'll cover:
- setting your design size
- using templates, stock photos and elements
- uploading and editing images
- adding text
and much more!
Tickets for this inaugural workshop on 4 February are a special price of just £20.
If this sounds like what you need for Canva, book in now.

Look both ways - a new approach to goal-setting
From time to time I write guest blogs for online magazines.
At this time of year, the favoured topic is goal setting, but it can get a bit monotonous.
So this year I wrote a piece for Enterprise Nation that has a slight twist.
I’m inviting you to think of your business as moving along a timeline from its birth to its ultimate demise.

Why giving more makes you more successful
In this month’s Book Club book, Rebel Ideas, Matthew Syed shares a story about medical students.
In a study of 600 students, the individualists, those who focused solely on their own progress, were the top performers in year one.
By the final year, the individualists had been overtaken by the collaborators, those who supported each other.
Why?
The individualists were initially able to progress faster because all their attention was centred on absorbing and applying information, without worrying about what anyone else was doing.
The collaborators were slowed down by taking time to stop and help each other.
This worked fine when the students could work alone, but as their studies developed, teamwork and service became an ever important aspect of their role.
Moreover, learning from others sparked new ideas and new and better ways of doing things.
And so the collaborators prevailed.
This may be a story about medical school, but the lessons are just as relevant in everyday life and in our own businesses.
In fact, Matthew Syed shares this story as part of his argument that humans have evolved to dominate the earth precisely because they are a social species that shares ideas.
Of course there are aspects of most businesses where we can work very effectively alone.
But unless you reach out to others, share your knowledge, insights and skills, and receive theirs in return, you won’t be maximising your potential.

“Amanda’s support and coaching has provided me with so much confidence and enabled me to refocus on my business.
Having someone to sound out ideas and plans, and help flesh out pain points and, at the same time, give a rationale alternative explanation has been incredible.
I couldn’t recommend her services more highly! Thank you, Amanda!”
