Tri-Cities Literacy News for
January/February  2021

Welcome 2021!  We have been waiting for you.

Whatever calendar you follow there is a renewal happening in the next few weeks.  A time when we usually take stock, make adjustments and plans, bid adieu to the past year, and in this part of the world look forward to longer days and warmer weather.  The year 2020 has arguably been the strangest year for most people on the planet.  There is something uplifting about a calendar change that brings to mind thoughts of revitalization and the sense of having a clean slate waiting for your entries.

So for new beginnings and a month when the bills come in and the next when we focus on love and the family, I thought we could lighten and brighten the mood with some books which celebrate the silly side of life, especially for children.  An informal poll was taken and here are some of the favourites suggested by friends and colleagues.

The Live 5-2-1-0 App supports children and families in building healthy habits by following the Live 5-2-1-0 message of FIVE or more vegetables and fruits, no more than TWO hours of recreational screen time, at least ONE hour of active play, and ZERO sugary drinks every day.

Kids are encouraged to set a goal, then choose fun daily tiny steps to work towards a reward!  The App does not encourage kids to spend more time than necessary in the App, but simply track their daily efforts in making healthy choices.  Download the Live 5-2-1-0 App for FREE from Google Play or the App store today!
