Welcome to issue 4 of the Echo, starting 2021 with sending you our best wishes for this new year. We sincerely hope that the conditions in which we find ourselves will improve and that 2021 is the year we can finally all meet in person.

First deliverables submitted
Documents available
The fist deliverables for AtlantECO have been submitted in November and December, you will find them in the "submitted deliverables" of the Google drive. These include the project management handbook, the communication plan and three ethics deliverables. Once approved by the EC, the public deliverables will be published on Zenodo and our website. You can find the list of upcoming deliverables in the tips & reminders section of this Echo.

Call for abstracts
EuroGOOS conference | Deadline 15th January 2021
The call for abstracts is still open for the EuroGOOS international conference which will take place online from 3rd to 5th of May 2021. The conference facilitates dialogue, experience sharing, and planning with both European and international partners and stakeholders, towards a more coordinated response to global challenges and societal needs related to the ocean. The deadlines for submitting abstracts is January 15th and for full papers (for selected abstracts) is April 11th.

Start of the Ocean Decade
IOC-UNESCO, United Nations
The 1st of January 2021 marked the start of the United Nations Decade of Open Science for Sustainable development, with a vision to deliver "the science we need for the Ocean we want". Save the date: the kick off conference will be held in Berlin from the 31st of May to the 2nd of June 2021.
If you have an event, workshop, publication, conference, training opportunity or other initiative planned for 2021 you can request official endorsement as a Decade Activity.

Communication and dissemination activities
Have you recently completed a communication, dissemination or exploitation activity?
If so, don't forget to complete and submit a CDE report form. The form is used to collect information about all the activities linked with communication, dissemination and exploitation activities of the AtlantECO project; this applies to scientific publications, dissemination and communication activities, Intellectual property rights, innovations and open research data.
